Flash Player finally gets automatic updates
.
Flash Player finally gets automatic updates final flash topic for you ..

Flash Player finally gets automatic updates : on geek.com : http://www.geek.com/articles/news/flash-...-20120329/

'Version 11.2.202.228, of the ubiquitous plug-in finally introduces an automatic update option — at least if you’re using a Windows computer. A preferences screen is presented once the installation completes, and users can choose whether to let Flash Player keep itself updated, receive notifications, or disable all update checking and surf with reckless abandon.' ..

Hmm, I don't want this for me, because I don't want the extra process in the background.Wink probably ..

They must have thought of that ages ago.

I had same thoughts as well as prefer to install manually to begin with. So i chose it to tell me when there are updates, so i can do so.

Adobe ticks me off. I wish that there was an alternative. Adobe software has been responsible for many BSOD on my PC--and it had to do with some auto updates of theirs every time.

Now why couldn't they thought of that a while ago. Much better then manually update it or waiting for the popup to appear.

Another great thing about using Chrome, instead of standalone Flash Player.

Installs an extra service? .. Yes
Is it running? .. No.

It uses Task Scheduler to enable service to check for updates. It's set to Manual, so it won't start on boot.

I use Alternative Flash Player Auto Updater it installs updates silently and automatically skips Adobe's bundled adware included in their installers.

RE: Flash Player finally gets automatic updates
I just noticed in my Event log that despite I choosing Flash not to check for updates, their update service gets a start after starting the computer. Does anyone knows how to get rid of this thing? If it cant be done, I might uninstall Flash and only install it in a dedicated sandbox when I need it.

Delete it from your Scheduled Tasks and disable it from your Windows Services.
