Samsung Admire
Good morning friends,
My oldest daughter just got a Samsung Admire and to be honest i'm not very knowledgeable on phones so are there any security risks for a kid/teen and what security should I install since it has android? A friend said people can track you somehow and there was something you could do to deactivate that but I can't remember what it was? My Real-Time Protection

RE: Samsung Admire
Cerberus
Cerberus helps you get back your lost or stolen Android device. Cerberus is a complete anti-theft application, the best protection you can get to recover your misplaced, lost or stolen Android device. This is a free trial for one week, then you can buy a lifetime license for a small price (2.99€) from within the application: no monthly or yearly fees, just a one-time payment. License is associated to your Cerberus account, if you have multiple devices you can use all of them (up to 5) with the same account. It has three ways to protect your device: - Remote control through the website http://www.cerberusapp.com - Remote control via text messages - SIM Checker (for devices that have a SIM card): you will automatically receive alerts if someone uses your phone with an unauthorized SIM card Remote control allows you to perform many operations on your device, like: - Locate and track it - Start a loud alarm, even if the device is set to silent mode - Wipe the internal memory and the SD card - Hide Cerberus from the app drawer - Lock the device with a code - Record audio from the microphone list to long to list read more here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...erus&hl=en Best £2.99 i ever spent and you cant install in on 5 devices before you'll have to pay another £1-2 for even more ![]() You can see who the person called last, who the texted last. everything although i reccomend you don't use those features unless you HAVE to its abit instrusive aso it works better if you have root because you can flash it in to your current ROMso there's no way of uninstalling it unless you change the ROM

If im honest aslong as you make sure in settings>security unknown sources is unticked and make sure you only get apps from the market you don't necessarily need a AV but its up to you, i've not had one single infection on my phone. But best to be on the safe side right? Avast is free so i'd use Cerberus and that and your all set ![]() EDITi totally miss read your thread i thought you wanted to track where the phone is and whats it doing. to check if the phone has carrier IQ ( the tracking thing) use bit defender https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...nder&hl=en Though i only think it was Apple and HTC who used Carrier IQ.. not 100% Bitdefender Total Security 2013

RE: Samsung Admire
I found the reply from my friend..."Another thing to watch for is when she takes pics and shares them. If she has location services on for her camera then when she takes a pic it will add the GPS coordinates to the EXIF file of the pic. This means that if she were to take the pic and pass it around and it got into the wrong hands and they knew what to do they could track her down because they could read the EXIF file, get the latitude and longitude and pinpoint exactly where she was when she took the pic."
This is what I meant with risks, i'll look into avast

RE: Samsung Admire
Go to Settings>Location And Security and Uncheck
Google location Services are what track you, uncheck Use Wireless networks, Use GPS Satellites, Location And Google Search. For more Safety also: Uncheck Make Passwords Visible- this makes the last letter of the password being typed visible, may be risky when with her friends. Also set screen lock, if she dont like anyone to have access to her phone. I know GPS may be useful but I never trust Google, leave it always off.
