Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

Thank you TwinHeadedEagle.

I found another article online, and it said to create another "person" in my chrome browser settings, then delete the "person" that was already there. So I did that, and Ads by AdsAlert has not shown its face anymore since then. However, I did get another pop up from another Deals by something or other, I will make sure to take note of the Ad's name if it happens again.

I am glad ads by adsalert isn't bothering me anymore, but there is obviously still something on my computer, otherwise the other popup wouldn't have happened. so I will let you know on this thread when I see another popup.

The other thing, is that I was not aware that all my bookmarks and chrome's memory was going to disappear when I removed the "person" from my chrome settings, so I was annoyed about that, but it's not the end of the world. Just have to type everything out now, when before I was used to shortcuts of just typing one or two letters to get to a website. Most of my bookmarks were articles or recipes I was saving to read (or make) at a later date, but never got around to anyway, so that really isn't too much of a bother. It forced me to tidy up :)

I'll let you know here when another popup happens. Thank you for your help!

Sorry, Here is the Addition.txt report. Thank you for any of your help. Chrome is still getting an extension each day, even though I delete it. Now it is called the Anti porn extension...

I just restarted my computer and reopened Chrome to see if the extension came back, and there was no extension. After about 10 minutes of using the internet, an Ads by AdsAlert popup happened. So annoying. So it's still on my computer somewhere, which is what I assumed. I attached a screenshot of the popup. Also, I checked my extensions in Chrome and there isn't any at the moment.

Let me know if there are any other scans I can do for you to check the results.

FRST.gif
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

After this, please reinstall Google Chrome, because it is altered by malware.

Okay, I did everything in your instructions. Attached is the Fixlog.txt

Also, I uninstalled Google Chrome, and it is having problems being reinstalled. I also realized that Mozilla firefox is also having the same ad pop up problems as chrome, so I uninstalled that and reinstalled it. Next I am going to uninstall internet explorer and reinstall it.

My computer seems fine at the moment. I am not able to use chrome because it won't install. Other people are having problems installing chrome as well.

I am now using Firefox and it has been working just fine since I uninstalled it and reinstalled it.

If internet exlporer can be infected, but I can't uninstall and reinstall it, how would I be able to get rid of the infection on IE?

I will let you know if I experience any more popups.

What did the fixlog tell you? Any info?

What do I do to get rid of the infection on my PC?

When I tried to install Chrome, it would say the installation failed. I just tried it again and now it worked, so Chrome is installed now.

So far I have not seen any problems with Internet Explorer.

And since I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, there have been no popups (that's what I've been using today).

I just reinstalled Chrome so I will see how that goes and report back here if I get any popups anywhere.
