I don't use parental control, I am not a parent :D yet
In my honest opinion, porn isn't something I'd tolerate my children to watch. But it's omnipotent. If he doesn't know about it until like fourth grade, he is soon going to learn it from his 'friends' in the school, no matter what school it is (even if the president Obama himself teaches there.) But, as Cats said, of course, when I was younger, I, being the tech guy, used to make my parents' account 'limited' and my account the administrator. Even though a believer, I was used to do wrong stuff when they had gone outside and there was only my computer and me. :)

So now I am waiting until my son becomes old enough to be a better computer scientist than me. Currently I am "studying" for my Ph.D (I get more than 96+ grades i almost every subject. I want my children to continue the trend. Except the lust part.

The time where/when we grew is a totally different time than this one. Of course, when I got children I would have some parental control on machine we will all use. Knowing me and my girlfriend (probably my future wife), our kids will learn everything they need to learn until their proper age. 80% of our kids's behavior will be in correlation of how we upbring them.

Parental Control over machine, if the child has proper knowledge (is a geek like his father), can be easily cracked, possibly by his own script! However, I disagree that most of the stuff he should know before his age would be mostly dependent on his parents. Like, for example, even though I didn't go much outside and lived in Southern India (which had and probably still has ancient "technology"), I still knew stuff, thanks to my friends and nature of internet. But I can only imagine for those that went outside the protection of their parents and to the deep recesses of the outside world.

I meant by that, that you give your child the right direction and he/she will take the course alone. We are what we bring from our home. :)

I agree, then. Because if a kid is jerk his parents are also jerks. If a kid is Christlike his parents are also Christlike. Experience tells me that. My parents were never much social and awkward, so here I am.
