Hello, I recently noticed that the files on this computer were encrypted with Cryptowall 3.0. I'm unsure if the virus is still present on the computer because I have pictures that were placed into the computer at the end of april, and those are not encrypted... but files prior to then seem to be encrypted. There is a file in many folders that says HELP_DECRYPT with links to Tor and the likes.

This is too bad. A bummer to lose 10 years of family photos. Thank you anyway, I see your contributions to other threads and appreciate the help you are able to give.

Hi, the easiest is to consider paying the $500 (Plan A) - I have tried everything! You will need to setup a secure TOR browser session to do this. If the link on your notice does not go anywhere on the Internet (which I suspect it is not) - it is because you need to establish the TOR browser link. I can give you more instructions if necessary. Never say never! - I am busy trying to restore my files 12 000 and will keep you post if I manage - am getting somewhere slowly but only have 5 days left as the CryptoWall 3.0 only gives you 7 days and then the files are lost forever (after you make server contact)...You must download and run Spyhunter 4 to insure you no longer have the virus. For those of you who have lost the link and want to consider re-establishing the link and paying - I can give you the instructions to setup the TOR browser and the link with your personal code to the key (from the Help_decrypt messages) on these fraudsters server. Until you trigger a link to the Ransomware server via TOR - the 168 hour countdown stays dormant and the clock has not started. Their instructions are not too clear and that easy to setup...

Definitely not worth $500. Other family members have some pictures, just not the same ones. I'm not going to enable these ransomware creators. I understand others may need the files though, i do not.
