Troubleshoot Getting winrar errors crc or unexpected end of archive

getting winrar errors crc or unexpected end of archive. problem resolves when using cd recovery disk, but data files need reinstalling. Deleted winrar and used windows xp with sp2 repair does not solve problem any solution ithout losing application and data files??

Technically what error codes do you receive for winrar? Better stick to alternatives like 7-zip or as mentioned by @frogboy.

You should not receive any issue with the programs mentioned. ;)

But the problem is the corruption of system files or files in .rar format,.zip, etc.?
In this case, as @frogboy says you can open files with 7zip or Bandzip, If they are not corrupted,
If they are corrupted, I think the problem is due to file system problems or hard disk.

Sounds more like HDD errors than RAM at this stage.
You can also use PeaZip portable to test it. 7Zip can sometimes be a pain in its latest alpha/beta build and its stable build is dated 2010 IIRC.

Yeah I agree, but since his/her description is pretty sparse a extra check oughtn't hurt.
