Google Chrome NewTabPage to Blank?

Currently there is no way to set Chrome NewTab to Blank.
There are extensions but dont want to use them to achieve this minor change.
Any regedit change?

For now I have installed the below extension.

This extension is safe?

I am running Comodo Dragon. And have posted in Comodo Dragon wishlist to add the options.

You could set the homepage to about:blank and enable the home button. I haven't seen a way to disable the NTP on desktop.
