Google is reportedly testing a new look for its Gmail website that, if true, could signal a major revamp for its ad supported free email service. However, there's no word on when, or even if, these changes will be seen by the general public.

Geek.com posted up screenshots of the Gmail test and its user interface more closely resembles the mobile app versions of the client. There's no sign of the email category tabs on top of the page that were put into the Gmail site in 2013. Instead, they are put inside the main message interface, which certainly makes for a cleaner look.
The compose button has now been placed on the bottom right hand side of the website. There's also a new pin system to replace the "stars" that have been used to mark important emails. Pinned emails can be dragged to the top of the page for quicker access if needed.
As the report itself says, these changes are being tested privately and there's no word when, or even if, Google will launch this Gmail website revamp with this specific design. However, it's likely users of the site will see some updates to the UI at some point in the near future.
