This is a fun story of how we were expecting perhaps 50 users for a test but – in the end – got over 35,000 users and saw the whole thing unfold in real time.

We were playing with Microsoft’s newly released Face detection API’s through a webpage called http://how-old.net. This page lets users upload a picture and have the API predict the age and gender of any faces recognized in that picture.

The service estimated I am 19 years old. It's wrong but I like the estimation.

It'd be funny if all of this was just a coincidence and all it really did was create a random number and display it between a certain range.

Of course this is not the case but I'd love Microsoft for doing this joke.

I uploaded a few photos of myself and usually it was saying I was up to 10 years older than I really am.

I typed my name from their Bing Search engine then it detected my picture which is good, however couldn't detect the face recognition. hahaha

I've upload another one and its 28 years old which way too far on estimation
