How to disable Geolocation - hide IP address - a daring topic for you here ..

* No Geolocation [Fred de Vries nice blog] : http://no-geolocation.blogspot.com/

Quote:
'Geolocation is the identification of your actual geographic location in the real world using information that your computer or cell phone/mobile phone sometimes unknowingly supplies.
The reason for this practise is - as it always is - money. Because there's money to be made if a company knows what your surfing habits are and how they can couple that knowledge to the place where you live or are at that precise moment in time. These companies can use targeted advertising to offer you free stuff or rebates in a shop near you.

The problem is that your (sense of) privacy is being compromised. You may never have given permission to use your address (or somewhere really close) to any unknown online advertising agency. Geolocation can also be misused by certain types of malware. ..' - Read this illuminating article and get your conclusions.

Fred de Vries get the advices for disable Geolocation 'feature' in:
Apple Safari
Comodo Dragon
Facebook
Flock
Google Chrome
Google GMail
Google Toolbar
Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla Thunderbird (Windows)
Mozilla Thunderbird (Linux)
Opera
Pale Moon
Twitter
.. then Opt-Out of Apple's Geolocation Aware Ads
and: Opt-Out of Yahoo!'s Ad Interest Manager

Read also Extra article: How to Disable Geolocation/GPS in Specific Phones (link at your right on the blog).

In IE8 - there is NO location option, because IE8 you do not hunt, no geolocation by IE8 ..:shy:
But it's not the same in IE9, too bad. So read my next link ..

* How to Disable Geolocation in Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer: by Brighthub.com: http://www.brighthub.com/internet/security-privacy/articles/107985.aspx

Quote:
'If you are using version 9 of the IE browser, you can simply turn off the Geolocation feature in Internet Options > Privacy > Location. Put a check in the box before Never allow websites to request your physical location. Click OK to apply the changes and then restart the browser.'

Then advises for do this same in:
Firefox
Opera
Google Chrome
Safari.

* No Geolocation: How to Disable Geolocation in Specific Programs: in another nice blog: TalesFromTheLou's Blog: http://talesfromthelou.wordpress.com/

Quote:
'Geolocation is a rather secret feature of some browsers and toolbars. It allows the creator of that program to get a fix on the location of your computer to within a few meters of where you actually live.'
- Yeah, your IP provider transmitting antenna's location, not your home.

.. and you have the ancient read of Fred de Vries copied here.

* So to hide your IP, you need eg. free Web proxy solution.
The secure proxy in which I trust, and which has no adverts, is called Proxify. Link to Proxify free web service (- click security configuration) here: https://proxify.com/

RE: How to disable Geolocation

This is really needed as anyone wants to be anonymous and would not be easily tracked.

Yeah, 'anonymous' is near 'free' ..

Your IP address location is pointed to the base station - Internet antennas tower (near your home) of your ISP (Internet Service Provider), not at your home. It's right?..

Quote:
'Android map exposes the data that Google has been collecting from virtually all Android devices and street view cars, using them essentially as global wardriving machines. You can use this tool to accurately locate virtually any router in the world, as well as position iPhones and Android phones.
When the phone detects any wireless network, encrypted or otherwise, it sends the BSSID (MAC address) of the router along with signal strength, and most importantly, GPS coordinates up to the mothership.
This page allows you to ping that database and find exactly where any wi-fi router in the world is located. Note that iPhones also send this BSSID and Cell Tower Information up to Apple, as well.
You can enter any router BSSID/MAC address to locate the exact physical location below, or try the demonstration router by hitting "Probe" below.
Follow me on twitter to hear about more of my extremely thrilling projects.
Note: Google has taken steps to stop my tool from working, including explicitly blocking me directly. Additionally, their geolocation API will now only share informatithat Google has on *you* only if you provide them not only information about your router, but unwittingly provide information about *other* people's routers.'

IP lookup online tools gets the geolocation details for the range (NetRange) of IP addresses (where is also your IP) hosted by your domain owner - ISP provider, which provided your eg. modem box and which assigned at you an IP address.

According to Whois info for your IP, the status of your domain is LOCKED , eg.:
'This Domain Name is currently locked. In this status the domain name cannot be transferred, hijacked, or modified. .. This feature is provided as a security measure against fraudulent domain name hijacking.'

So calmly look on eg. IP-lookup.net, and you are able to see the location of your ISP provider server with antennas tower - not your belowed home. And see maybe your city, if your ISP provider with his antenna towers are in this same city.

To detect IP address, you can use free online lookup services from my precedent Post #4, and these also:
* IP-lookup.net: http://ip-lookup.net/
* WhatismyIP.com IP lookup: http://www.whatismyip.com/tools/ip-address-lookup.asp
* WhatismyIP.com IP WHOIS lookup: http://www.whatismyip.com/tools/ip-whois-lookup.asp
* whatismyIPaddress.com IP lookup: http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup

.. and little read for you: How to geographically locate an IP Address: ipinfo.info: http://ipinfo.info/html/geolocation.php

Hello Zillo,

'TrendMicro Site Safety Center' flags the link you posted - that it's Dangerous:

Dangerous: 'The latest tests indicate that this site contains malicious software or could defraud visitors'.

'How would you categorize this site?' - demand TrendMicro .. and it responds:
'Proxy Avoidance: Sites about bypassing proxy servers or Web filtering systems, including sites that provide tools for that purpose.'
and: 'Hacking: Sites that provide software for bypassing computer security systems.'

- And 'Web Security Guard' ( http://www.websecurityguard.com ) says, that this site contained spyware, virus or adwares.

But all others says: site clean ..

PS.
On VirusTotal (URL scan!) - all results (exception TrendMicro says malware, and Wepawet says unrated site) - yes all results: Clean site ..
And Comodo Site Inspector: on green, 'No malicious activity or malware detected.'

It's hard for me to judge in these circumstances, but I prefer to be cautious. What do you think about, Zillo?..

My Apologies for posting in wrong place last night - I've put this post in wrong topic yesterday. Obviously I felt very tired ..:sleepy:

So Zillo, thank you!;)
.. and not be angry, sorry.

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

But always is good to check the website's neighborhood.

If you want to increase the website traffic - you need to check the website's neighborhood.

IS YOUR SITE living in a bad neighborhood?: on RSSpieces.com: http://www.rsspieces.com/is-your-site-living-in-a-bad-neighborhoo

Quote:
'Linking to a bad neighborhood: If you lay down with dogs, you will get fleas'.:D

'You wouldn’t want to live next to the Playboy Mansion or have Jenna Jameson as your best bud, would you? Well, it might be fun at first, but eventually the parties, the noise, the stints in the Betty Ford, the general debauchery and unsavory characters would affect your home value and lifestyle. I mean, Grandma Fern, the Pastor’s wife, might think twice about coming to your Thanksgiving Day feast if you were also inviting Ron Jeremy. The same goes for the web. The credibility of the other sites hosted on the server with your website and those sites you link to are just as important to a search engine as your own site’s integrity.'

Good sites for checking bad neighborhoods:

* Bad Neighborhood text link tool / checker: http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm
'This tool will scan the links on your website, and on the pages that your website is linking to, and flag possible problem areas. This can greatly ease your seo efforts.'

* Check Your IP Neighborhood - on WebsiteNeighbors.com: http://www.websiteneighbors.com/
'Enter the IP address or hostname of the neighborhood you'd like to search.
Our tools will return a list of other websites hosted on the same IP address that you search for, showing you what other websites may be owned and operated on this IP, as well as alerting you to bad neighborhoods. We also return Alexa rankings and Google PR rankings for each website.'
:s Then click Lookup button, please.

Hmm, Robtex says that stayinvisible.com site is OK:

Robtex Summary for stayinvisible.com: http://www.robtex.com/dns/www.stayinvisible.com.html?tab=summary

'Trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy and child safety of this site is excellent. .. It is not listed in any blacklists.'
'Anonymitychecker.com and www.anonymitychecker.com point to the same IP.' - the twin brothers ..

So now I changed my mind: this site is clean, sorry.:sleepy:

And TrendMicro is wrong. End of Story.
