For the longest time, Windows and Mac users were always separated by the difference in the specs of the Windows and Mac units, with Mac using PowerPC CPU architecture for its hardware. However, to date, Mac is reported to have already shifted to the Intel x86 standard commonly used by Windows PC, meaning that the hardware used by Windows and Mac are already quite the same. With more and more people appreciating the Windows 10 OS, more Mac users (especially those who only transferred to Mac after the Windows 8 fiasco) are weighing the options of going back to Windows 10.
The Verge confirms that there are two ways for Mac users to install Windows 10 on their Mac PCs and laptops so they don’t actually have to sell their existing Mac units to get Windows-ready ones.
Using a virtual machine like Parallels or VMware is the first option to install Windows 10 on Mac units. Virtualization applications like Parallels and VMware will install Windows 10 on Mac units by running Windows 10 as an app on top of the original OS X. This means that Windows 10 will not be running in its optimum levels since it’s only running on top of the OS X.
Since Parallels and VMware won’t override the existing Mac OS X to run Windows 10, this method is perfect for people who want to test drive Windows 10 first or just run Windows 10 temporarily or occasionally. However, this will cost $60 ballpark on top of the Windows 10 retail price.
For those Mac users wanting to make a more long-term commitment with Windows 10 on their Mac units, Boot Camp is the way to go. Boot Camp, unlike the virtual machine apps mentioned earlier, already comes installed with Mac so it costs nothing to use when upgrading to Windows 10. By installing Windows 10 on your Mac via Boot Camp, the Mac unit will run like an ordinary Windows 10 PC or laptop. Mac users who install Windows on their units are generally those who like to play games on their laptops and PCs so this is perfect as it does not compromise the power and capacity of Windows 10.

To install Windows 10 on Mac via Boot Camp, open Finder in OS X, navigate to Applications, then Utilities, then finally Boot Camp Assistant. When choosing how much of your hard drive will you allocate to Windows, it is important to consider how often will you use Windows 10 on your Mac. If you decide to use Windows 10 on a regular basis, it is recommended to allocate at least 25GB. After choosing, click Partition and the Mac will restart. During the restart, this is where you insert the Windows 10 installation disk or USB stick.
You can still switch between Windows 10 and Mac OS X upon installation of Windows 10 by pressing the Option key when restarting.
