After purchasing an XLR to USB preamp the cheapest one on the market. I went online to find out how to get it to work with windows 7 it wasn't working - I got it to work using the online information; didn't use the computer for a day then when I come back, my IE icon is gone from the task bar. I went online to find out how to retrieve it; The information I found worked- I got it back. The only problem is It keeps asking me if I want to make Internet explorer my homepage. I take the necessary actions to accomplish that but you would think based upon it's response that I'm ignoring it rather it's ignoring - me continually making the request.

Helllo,

Before we begin, please note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
  • Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
  • Instructions that I give are for your system only!
  • Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
  • Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
  • Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not help you if you do not follow my instructions.

Scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Argus it's been too long I started off with "After purchasing an XLR to USB preamp the cheapest one on the market. You contacted me on the 11 of Dec. I got back with you on the 20th apologizing for the delay I sent you the two frst txt but I don't see my response that I sent nor those txt. It looks like as I'm waiting on you, in actuality, you are waiting on me. Now the saga continues I get a message from Google teams that early on Sunday morning they blocked a sign-in attempt on my Google Account they stated further that Whoever tried to sign in to my account knows my password; and recommended that I change it right away. headings in their letter included:
"Sign in attempt details" "If this wasn't you" and "If this was you" The latter two included links and since it wasn't me I chose the link under that heading and it came up with the following message: Your browser is not supported anymore. Please update to a more recent one. choosing my favorite icon out of their four options, I tried to upgrade ie - it pops up with "You've got our latest browser" I can't make it my home page. It's upgraded but they don't think so. I'm getting mixed signals and giving away pass words hope to hear from you.

unfortunately, the other day getting off from work I was tired while reading your message to me I misread it, only after going over it again did I realize that FRST tool also had to be run in administration, mind you this is after I have already ran it so I reran it. and have done so again tonight but more than twice last night because i was trying to acquire the prerequisites that you needed, again unfortunately I do not get a subsequent addition txt on the latter runs and have never been able to locate / acquire a Fixlog.txt. much less put it in the same location as the FRST txt.

Thank you Argus for your patients in dealing with me and my predicament. when I follow your instructions I end up in downloads which can also be accessed from the start menu by clicking on documents which gives me: Libraries / Documents, once I get there - to the far left under Organize, I have Favorites, Desktop, and then Downloads etc. Following your instructions to the t I did not find any Fixlog.txt
no success by perusing or through document search the only thing I have there is two additions dated 12/20/2014 and four FRST files dated 1/13/2015

For the most part all downloads have come from IE I downloaded Firefox way back and have not used it much at all. I can't help but believe that you have mistakenly omitted something that I was supposed to download using IE.

well before getting your response I had already downloaded mbar using IE
I took the liberty (bad move) to eliminate all files before downloading again. scanned the computer as administrator it couldn't find anything and I couldn't find mbar log
still no sign of success will run again the day after tomorrow as I will be getting home around midnight so if I understand correctly I will use Firefox instead.
