Microsoft is expanding its Age of Empires real time strategy game franchise to the mobile phone and tablet arena. Today, it was revealed that Age of Empires: World Domination will be released this summer for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Plans for such a game were first revealed in July 2013 but no other details were provided at that time.

The game's official website has now launched, along with a trailer that shows off some gameplay from the title. The game itself is being developed by Japan-based KLab and from the looks of the early gameplay footage, it's going to be a true RTS game with lots of action and some solid animation for the units. Players will be able to pick from several different historical civilizations such as the Celts, Huns, Franks and more. It's currently unknown if Age of Empires: World Domination will be a paid game or a free title with in-game purchases.

Microsoft released a revamped version of Age of Empires II for the PC in 2013, along with an all-new expansion pack for that game. The company will release a graphically updated version of the spin-off game Age of Mythology in May.
