Mozilla has revealed that it is working on a version of its Mozilla browser for Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system, although it remains unclear if the browser will be available alongside the launch of the new OS on July 29.
In fact, it's worth pausing for a quick trip down Memory Lane at this point, to remind ourselves that Mozilla first announced a version of Firefox for Windows 8 in February 2012, ahead of that OS' launch a few months later. After an extraordinarily long development period - including various delays - the first Windows 8 version was finally released two years later in February 2014. Amazingly, the company then abandoned development just a few weeks after that.
As PC World reports, Mozilla hasn't actually committed to a timeframe for its Windows 10 release - which is probably wise, given its history - but promises that Firefox will arrive "soon" for Microsoft's new OS.
It's not clear if that will be a full version 1.0 product in the Windows Store, or if it plans to release beta versions first, but Mozilla did say that it intends to provide an "independent and high-performing alternative to the stock browser", which - in the case of Windows 10 - is the new Microsoft Edge.
