Samsung has located and patched a security flaw in its “Find My Mobile” feature that allowed hackers to remotely lock Samsung Droid smartphones.
“The reported issue occurred on the Find My Mobile website, not on the mobile device,” a Samsung spokeswoman told The Hillin an update Wednesday.
The company had already corrected the problem through an Oct. 13 update, the spokeswoman said.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently issued a warning about the flaw, giving it a 7.8 out of 10 on its severity scale.
Egyptian security researcher Mohamed Baset initially exposed the vulnerability in two YouTube videos.
NIST frequently issues warnings when after it identifies exploitable flaws in devices and widely used software.
