One of the changes that Microsoft made when it released Windows 10 was to give up on the Media Center SKU, but the company developed a separate app supposed to help users play their DVDs in the new operating system.
Surprisingly though, this application called Windows DVD Player, wasn't offered free of charge to regular Windows 10 users, but only to those who previously had Media Center.
Obviously, it's hard to believe that someone would pay $15 for such an app when there are so many freeware alternatives out there, but Microsoft seems to have no intention to offer it without a fee.
And yet, suggestions posted in the Windows 10 Feedback app require Microsoft to make the Windows 10 DVD Player app free of charge and until now, more than 1,100 people have already voted for this submission.
Needless to say, Redmond hasn't yet commented on this and truth be told, it's quite odd to see the company charging users for such a basic application, but either way, everyone looking for a basic DVD player app can get it from the store at any time.
The application is only available for those who upgrade from a Media Center edition of Windows to Windows 10, so in case you perform a clean install, it won't show up in the store with a freeware license. The app will remain available for a limited time, so it'll be removed from the store very soon.
