Hello, first off I would like to thank you for your help. I noticed this first started happening on Steam (from valve) the game software. Weird Highlighted text kind of like hyperlinking with random information. Then Ads on the side, top, or bottom of the screen (on Steam) that were saying the usual "Your Media Player is Out Dated!", "Your system is infected!", "Update Java!", etc... But these popups aren't found on Firefox (I'm assuming because of AdBlock plus(?)) I saw them on Chrome but then I installed ad block I haven't seen them again. Also haven't noticed them on Internet Explorer, but then again I only opened IE to check the proxy settings.
Then, I think it's called click jacking, I try to click on a game from the Sale page and I would get a pop up with the address of srv123 (or 123srv.com) then it would get redirected or another pop up would come up. But I've been busy and I don't have the means to back up everything I would like, and it would take days on my new internet connection to get some of these games back, so I've been putting off a system restore and None of my Anti-Virus's (anti-viri(?)) Haven't worked. I also tried un-installing Firefox, Chrome, Steam. Then when that wouldn't work I looked at the proxy settings for each browser and they are all set to 127.0.0.1:8118, which I'm assuming is where these pop-ups are coming from. Every time I change the proxy settings (It doesn't matter what to) they always revert back to 127.0.0.1:8118.

I usually don't make an account to just get help, but this is getting out of hand and I would prefer not re-install my operating system, also it looks like people are getting the right help here , and I also learned something from TwinHeadedEagle, "This type of infection is using one legitimate software to show ads and that is why security vendors doesn't detect it..."

It looks like the help is unique per computer, so I thought I would try to find out what to do myself, but I had a hard time correlating from FRST to fixlist so I didn't try to run anything else, except to get MY FRST & Addittion text files to upload.

Also it looks like some of my Java(script?) isn't working in Firefox, for example: eBay's search refining buttons are not working for me, so to use eBay I need to switch to Chrome.

Once again, thank you for all your help!

Hi,

Before we begin, I want you to have this in mind:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to eveyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
    button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

Please download zoek.zip or zoek.rar by smeenk (

  • Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program. (If necessary)
    If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.
  • Double click on zoek.exe to run the tool .
    Please wait while the tool does not start...
  • Copy the text present inside the code box below and paste it into the large window in the zoek tool:
    NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

    Code:

Hey! I ran zoek with the code, and it looks like it fixed it! Although I had to change the proxy settings in Firefox back to no proxy. I have one last question, if this happens again, can I re-run zoek with the same code to fix it again? Also, Thank you so much for your help!

Ok, then we're done here :)

For future protection I can recommend you:
- Adblock --> https://adblockplus.org/en/chrome
- Unchecky --> http://unchecky.com/

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;
checkmark.png
Remove disinfection tools
checkmark.png
Create registry backup
checkmark.png
Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.
