I've been dealing with removing the Strong Signal Virus over the last 3 days, and have worked my way around to the point I believe it (and pretty much everything else) is removed, however I have no Internet Access. On the infected laptop, I am connected to wifi, am sending and receiving packets, but have no internet access. I'm currently using another laptop on the same internet service to download/post.

my basic comp specs: HP Pavilion dv7 notebook pc, windows 7 home premium, 64x

I have uploaded the following text files, the FRST and Addition, most recent adwcleaner, most recent malwarebyte.

thank you in advance for your time in looking into this.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on

    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).

  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Not sure I understand the question? Nothing seems to be making a problem program wise, after I ran the frst fixlist, it rebooted my computer, it took it a few minutes to load and my mouse was frozen during this time (which was different). But it seems again to be running fine, just no internet access (while connected).

I'm not sure if anything else was open/opened otherwise.

I tired restoring (many times) after several unsuccessful attempts of removing the virus.

The reason being, after using MBAM, hitman pro and adwcleaner (to remove Strong Signal that I'd noticed showing up in Chrome) I started getting errors as to my windows sockets and was unable to connect to the net, I reinstalled and updated my wifi driver along with a few other things. The errors stopped, I was able to connect and send/receive packets but then had no internet access.

The restore failed multiple times with a 0x80070005 error saying a possible anti virus program was keeping me from finishing and that it could not be completed. So I went back to the anti virus's removed them and began again.

Maybe is adwcleaner the culprit

When AdwCleaner is first run to clean adware, it will create a new folder located at C:\AdwCleaner. The AdwCleaner folder contains sub-folders for Backup and Quarantine. Each of these folders contain sub-folders of the exact location (full path) an entry was removed from. In the event you want to restore an item, simply run AdwCleaner again.

Click Quarantine manager.
A log file of what was removed will open in a new window.
Scroll through the list and find the entry you want to restore.
Place a check mark in the box next to the entry(s).
Click the Restore button.
