Windows 10 is already under development right now and users can deploy the Technical Preview on their computers free of charge, but there's no doubt that a lot could change before the operating system hits the market in stable form.

While everyone can give Windows 10 a shot, there's no doubt that 2015 is going to be a really exciting year for the new operating system, mostly because the product is scheduled to reach three major milestones throughout the next 12 months.
Windows Phone 10 Preview in early 2015
As part of the Windows 10 rollout, Microsoft is also working to bring users a new version of its Windows Phone operating system, and it appears that the company plans to release the smartphone software together with the desktop sibling.

But before that, Windows Phone 10 is expected to hit the market in preview form in early 2015, thus giving users the chance to see what's new and, more importantly, to send feedback to the company in order to fix any potential bugs that might exist in the operating system.

At this point, very little is known about the new operating system for mobile devices, but according to sources, Microsoft has already submitted some early testing builds to partners. Users could receive it in the first months of 2015, so hard work is now being done behind closed doors at Microsoft.
Windows 10 Consumer Preview in spring 2015
Microsoft is already readying the very first consumer preview for Windows 10, which would basically represent the debut of the new operating system for the consumer market. Windows 10 Technical Preview is specifically designed for testers and enterprises, and consumers aren't really recommended to deploy this particular build.

Needless to say, the Windows 10 Consumer Preview would come with many more features, including a preview build of Internet Explorer 12, the next version of Microsoft's in-house browser that could make its debut in Windows 10.

Obviously, the new version would be more stable and would come with new features and options, but nothing is official so far, so there are quite a lot of unconfirmed details right now.
Windows 10 launch in mid-2015
People close to the matter previously said that Windows 10 could launch in April 2015, but now we're hearing that Microsoft is actually considering a mid-2015 release date for the new operating system.

While the April 2015 launch could really make sense if we look at the recent release schedule of Windows versions, this date is actually too close to a potential RTM milestone, so the company might very well push it a few months back to mid-2015.

Overall, there's no doubt that more great things are to come for Windows 10 users in 2015, so expect a lot to happen on the Windows front in the next few months, as Microsoft is working to make its operating system better for all users and devices.
