"The U.K. government, however, will now migrate to a newer and updated version for their computers.
As of April 2014, Microsoft's official support for the beloved Windows XP has ended. This means that there would be no more technical support or updates for the said operating system. The U.K. government still paid 5.5 million pounds or roughly 847 million USD for extended support for their computers and machines that still hasn't been updated at the time.
It has been expected that the government would make another payment to Redmond as the contract already expired. There are still several departments that still run Windows XP.
Now, the U.K. Government Technology Team published a blog post, saying that its Custom Support Agreement (CSA) will not be extended anymore. The Technology Leaders met in April and made the decision.

Windows 10 will launch this year, but Microsoft has been quiet on when it will actually be launched for the public."
