Hello everyone.

Source: my experience and problems ...(some tips may be obvious but I can assure you that they are often some of the main reasons)

What exactly slows the connection or navigation? And what can we do for speeder?

Internet is based on hundreds of different technologies that interact with each other, and it is likely that some snag slows the flow of data that has to come to the computer or the data to be converted to web pages and display them.

Are many factors that affect the speed of the connection and surfing the Internet, and that can make Internet slow.

Here I describe the main factors, and explain what we can control to improve the problems of slow Internet.

Some of these factors are not directly controllable, but others can be checked and modified to speed up Internet and eliminate possible configuration problems.

Tip: before start to speed up Internet, we test the actual connection speed with an Internet speed test. Once measured the actual speed, we can compare with the speed which we reach after optimized connection. Although the speed is indicated by the provider is generally the maximum speed attainable only under ideal conditions (theory), if the actual speed is much lower than the speed advertised by the provider or the speed guaranteed contractually, we contact the provider.

12 external factors that can make Internet slow

Here are the main factors that can make Internet slow:

1. Internet connection type

the Internet connection type is the factor that most affect connection speed (56 k to 20 MB and more)

2. configuration of the devices used to connect

it is important to verify that the devices that we use to connect (modems, routers and keys for mobile connection) are configured. Misconfiguration can actually slow down or block the connection.

3. state and technical capabilities of the used devices used to connect

It is important to check that all devices that receive and transmit Internet data (such as telephone cables/modem, DSL lines, taps for mobile connection/USB sticks, routers etc.) are in good condition and able to handle data traffic at the speed provided by the provider. Phone cables worn may prevent you to navigate. External modems, old routers could become technical limits for bottlenecks (although in perfect condition): If you can manage the data transfer only up to certain speed, limit the speed of the connection regardless of the speed provided by making slow Internet provider.

4. modem/router compatibility and operating system

not all modems and routers are compatible with all operating systems. The incompatibility may slow or even prevent the Internet connection. Check the minimum system requirements of devices that we use for receiving and transmitting data and verify their compatibility with the operating system.

5. number of the machines that share the same connection

If multiple machines (such as a laptop, a PDA and a tablet) use the same connection, the slowing down of Internet surfing is all the more evident as many are connected machines and the slow starting connection. Try to disconnect all units except one and then log on to the Internet to check if the Internet is still slow. If we use a wireless connection and notice suspicious slowdowns of Internet, check also that nobody is using illegally.

6. type of connection in the case of multiple connected devices

If multiple devices are connected to the same connection, the slowdown of the navigation is all the more evident as many are running programs that require a large data traffic (streaming video, online games, multiplayers and such), so in case of slow Internet close programs that are not needed.

7. local traffic congestion

many people connect locally and using the same broadband cable or connection node, as mobile Internet is slow for these users. Traffic flows on the Internet vary depending on the day of the week and time, and improves navigation in moments of minor stream.

8. capacity of the site you visit or hosting to handle overload

if the hosting provider (the company that hosts the site) or the site itself that are not able to absorb sudden or extreme spikes of traffic, the site loads very slowly or does not open. This can happen to small and medium-sized sites in particular size if hosted on shared servers, but also the most visited websites in the world: never had problems with Facebook or YouTube slow? We consider however that various technical reasons may make an unreachable site. This happens in small sites as the most popular websites in the world.

9. distance from the server

if you're browsing the Web and visit a site hosted on a distantly server (for example USA or Asia), all other conditions the site loading time will be greater than that of a hosted site.

10. size of the page from view and code structure

plus the page is great (for example, pages with many images or videos tend to have larger pages with textual content only), more time is needed to display the web page on the screen. The final size of the page is not the only factor that slows down the page loading. There are many web design factors (such as the quality of the code, where are certain scripts and commands, how many bugs are present, if they are used CSS, how many requests are sent to the server etc.) on which we have no direct control.

11. maintenance or technical problems of Internet Service Provider

sometimes the connection is dropped or slows down for technical reasons of the provider. Maybe the provider is performing maintenance operations (network, servers, transmitters in the area) or is under DOS attack. Regardless of the reason, in case of slow Internet, if we suspect it is a problem of the provider do not hesitate to contact him to verify the cause of the slow connection. First is useful in fact understand if the problem is due to your ISP or not, then the provider may help us to re-configure the connection if necessary.

12. weather

rain, snow, wind can make Internet slow. I've noticed personally that use mobile connections, but the slow connection in bad weather is a problem even for broadband connections. If it happens frequently, contact the provider and ask questions and maybe a refund for the disservice if there are the basis for the request.

16 internal factors that can make Internet slow

13. the overall performance of your computer

Internet use requires resources, memory, and disk space. I do not recommend to change computer, but to keep the registry clean, hard disk and the computer in general: improve your computer's performance also serves to speed up Internet.

14. number and type of active services and programs

If we have slow Internet problems, reduce unnecessary programs to start automatically, reducing unnecessary services with automatic execution and close heavy programs that are running on your computer while you browse, allows you to devote more resources and memory to the browser and then speed up Internet.

15. the number and type of running programs that use the connection at the same time

there are many programs that use the Internet connection (for example, live chat programs, email programs such as Outlook, Skype, video and music streaming etc). If we need only one program (e.g. Skype), close all other programs that consume unnecessary bandwidth to reduce competition on the available bandwidth and speed up the Internet.

16. downloads (even in the background)

many programs may be set to search for and download updates automatically. Often downloading in the background. Most downloaded updates is small, but not always. In any case, the search and subsequent upgrade downloads use a lot of bandwidth, causing a slow navigation. Check that there are no downloads in progress (such as managed by managers, or downloads from Windows Update or other programs on your computer are set to check and download updates automatically).

17. configuring the Windows registry

the Windows registry contains information about managing Internet packages, a good reason not to damage using registry cleaners not reliable.

18. presence of malware

spyware and malware are among the most frequent causes of slow Internet. Spyware programs may slow down your system by interfering with the browser and monopolizing and lock your Internet connection. For example, viruses can infect PC and sending hundreds of spam mail messages per minute, reducing the processing power and bandwidth of the Internet connection available for other activities.

19. Antivirus, Antimalware, Firewalls

sometimes programs that interfere with the connection may slow down the Internet. Antivirus, antimalware and firewall perform scan operations and also continuous control that can occupy bandwidth, slowing down navigation.

20. browser speed

not all browsers are equal. Some are continuously updated and improved for faster surfing.

21. browser configuration

some parameters of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and others may be changed to speed up Internet browsing.

22. the amount of space dedicated to the browser cache memory

let us ensure that there is enough space for your browser's cache, and delete temporary Internet files and cookies. In general, have more free disk space improves your computer's performance and also helps to speed up browsing.

23. number of browsers add-ons in use

plugins, addons and other add-ons (add-ons, search bars, or other instruments usually displayed on the browser toolbar) can weigh down the browser and slow navigation. If you do not need to disable them or even board remove them to speed up browsing with the browser.

24. the presence of conflicts of browser add-ons

sometimes browsers add-ins can create conflicts with other components or programs on the computer, and then slow down the Internet.

25. update level and browser add-ons

we often forget to update your browser and add-ons, but it really is useful to install updates and the latest stable versions as soon as possible to improve speed and fluidity in browsing the Internet and avoid potential conflicts between and with add-ons.

26. resources used by the browser

the consumption of resources by some browsers tend to grow exponentially while you browse and this slows down the performance of the browser and browsing. Browse by holding many open Windows often contributes to exponentially increase the resources used and can make Internet slow. Thus we close all the windows that we do not use while you browse, and generally do not keep several windows open at the same time.

27. restart browser frequency

for the same reason above (the tendency by some to enhance browsers too resource consumption while browsing) council to restart the browser every so often. Close the browser and restart it when the use reaches excessive levels drastically reduces the resources consumed by the browser and makes browsing faster.

28. DNS types used

use a little performing DNS service with answers because lens a slow Internet browsing. To improve browsing speed, try alternative DNS services provided by OpenDNS, Google Public DNS or others, that might ensure a more rapid conversion and increased browsing speed.

I hope to have at least listed the main reasons that can slow down your internet connection, why should remember that the internet is a right!

Regards. :)
