Users that want to install more than 512 applications in Windows 10 will receive error messages. Due to the errors shortcuts to applications are not being saved. Microsoft developers probably thought users would never install more than 512 applications. This resembles the famous remark from Bill Gates in 1981 that 640KB of memory “ought to be enough for anybody.”
Users on the Windows 10 Insiders community complained about the issue and while Microsoft promised the bug would have been fixed in today’s released RTM version, it’s not.
To see whether your system is affected, go to the Windows Powershell and enter the command “Get-StartApps | measure”. If it reports the number 512 then you’re affected. Microsoft will probably solve the issue with a future update.
