Microsoft has provided few details about the next evolutionary steps of Windows 10, the first of which involves a substantial modification in early August.

From now is available free upgrade to Windows 10 for users with a license of Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1. Together with the operating system will download the first full-bodied and corrective patch package to solve several problems identified at the last moment (the download is also available separately). Microsoft has already planned the next evolutionary steps, as foreseen by the new model" as a Windows Service ".

The next collection of bug fixes is planned for August, probably as early as next week. The name used by the Redmond company is Service Release 1 (SR1). There will be no new features, but will resolve many problems that users have reported in recent days. Another update was planned for October. In addition to the classic fix, Microsoft will include the new messaging app with Skype integration and will add support for extensions to the browser.

Drew DeBruyne, program manager on the Microsoft Edge, confirmed that the extensions are written in JavaScript and will use the same Chrome Extensions API. Porting will be so very fast. Users can download them from the Store, such as universal apps. Other improvements will include battery life, not yet satisfactory. Finally, all of the built-in apps on Windows 10 will receive an update. The other two update are planned for 2016, one of which is Redstone.

As was the case during the development of Windows 10, customers enrolled in the program Windows Insider will have the honor to test these features in advance, before the global distribution. The new build will be released via Windows Update, in a way similar to preliminary versions of the operating system.
