“Win 7 Protection 2013” is a computer virus, which pretends to be a legitimate antivirus program and claims that malware has been detected on your computer, then it will state that you need to pay money to register the software to remove these non-existent threats.

Win 7 Protection 2013 is distributed through hacked or infected websites, which will prompt you with a fake pop-up window indicate that your computer is infected or your computer requires a software update. Alternatively, your computer may be infected with “Win 7 Protection 2013” from an infected email attachment or drive-by-downloads which will exploit a vulnerability in older versions of Java or Adobe software.

As part of its self-defense mechanism, Win 7 Protection 2013 has disabled the Windows system utilities, including the Windows  Task Manager and Registry Editor, and will block you from running certain programs that could lead to its removal.

STEP 1 : Start your computer in Safe Mode with Networking

  1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.
  2. Press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts.Please keep in mind that you need to press the F8 key before the Windows start-up logo appears.
    Note: With some computers, if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the “F8 key”, tap the “F8 key” continuously until you get the Advanced Boot Options screen.
  3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking , and then press ENTER.

STEP 2: Run RKill to terminate the malicious processes associated with Win 7 Protection 2013.

RKill is a program that will attempt to terminate all malicious processes associated with Win 7 Protection 2013, so that we will be able to perform the next step without being interrupted by this malicious software.
