New malware is still being introduced at an alarmingly exponential rate: In the last five years alone it has risen by approximately 5,000%. Such growth rates may be any shareholder's dream but here they are evidence of the immense profitability of the hacker industry. Your personal data, online connections or even access to your PC make the cash registers ring. This makes developing increasingly sophisticated and less easily detected ways of infecting your PC, more and more lucrative for clever programmers. However there is no need to panic, as we will show you in this article how to avoid unnecessary risks and how to keep on surfing the web with your PC safely in 20

Agree with the 10 educational steps. Although of course they promote their software, the core steps are the ones one should take regardless.

4 - Avoid File Sharing Websites

Apart from the fact that they mostly offer illegal content, file sharing websites are among the most common sources for malware infections. Cracked programs or so-called key generators ("keygens") in particular are often infected with malware. It is safer to download original software from the manufacturer's website or from well-known download sites.

FALSE. Download trusted uploads. And/or use Sandbox.

Don't forget those steps are designed to educate beginner users; so yes step 4 is true, i cured many systems infected originally via keygen & cracks. Beginners don't even know what is a sandbox and type in google: "name of soft" crack keygen; they can't recognize between real safe keygen and infected ones.

Of course Emsisoft promote their soft in same time (Just replace their soft by any vendor) but they try to educate people instead of just poisoning them with scarewares or useless pseudo 60 seconds softwares scanners softs (follow my sight).

Emsisoft has some very good articles but I'm sure they are trying to promote their software at least they do provide some useful info.

Thanks.:D

Agreed that these are basic steps for the basic user.I would advise beginners not to run any Installer,"crack" or keygen from a file sharing site also. Most with computer knowledge would know to obtain an Installer from a safe site and run something sandboxed, unpack a Zip file and scan everything individually, but basic advice for the basic user would be stay away from them.Even though they are plugging their software,it is on their website, they are providing solid & safe advice to guide most users.
