i want to know which product you will choose baidu or 360 internet security, both programs have a similar UI and settings but are entirely different qihu uses bitdefender engine whereas baidu uses avira(along with their respective engines),which one is better in case of detection,FP,resource usage, web protection etc.I also came to hear that bitdefender gives ony their older engines to other vendors is that true in the case of qihu 360 internet security??

If you ask me. Neither of them. I do not trust Chineese products for security. Chineese products are good at making a copy of what is already available instead of making something on their own. For ex. Kingsoft Office has a UI which has been more or less copied from MS Office.

Me neither, there's too many other options out there.

not just lots of options, but lots of most trusted better options available, there are already some confusion about Kingsoft and Baidu....

What a load of xenophobic crap.

Can you really trust bitdefender..kaspersky etc.?

How will the chinese software companies be able to prove their worth at all when they are met with this xenophobic attitude.
They may as well throw in the towel if this is the case.

Kingsoft office is nothing like microsoft office at all so that comment was useless.
Thanks.

Qihu has been impressing many people. Me too, it's very good.

But Baidu isn't far behind. In fact, they have been very helpful and are sorting their update problems out, and once that's done they'll be a tough competitor. Their HIPS ability is comparable to Qihu's, but Qihu has the advantage of a Sandbox now. Overall I find Baidu lighter on the system, and Qihu is already very light. Detection rates are usually comparable too.

The privacy issue with Qihu has been refuted by them, and so far it's hard to say if they're true or not, but it's not like there's a smoking gun, from what I could gather. I'm no specialist nor have I looked at the issue in detail.

But, I vote for Baidu. Up until today, my vote would have been neutral, both AVs with their qualities. But Qihu 360 IS has a terrible design flaw: it's Proactive Defense doesn't work without the internet. That's right. No connection, and no detection, means no defense at all. So if you bring a USB from work or college or a cyber cafe etc., and plug it into an unconnected PC, Qihu 360 IS won't help you. Baidu AV, on the other hand, shows no difference in its Proactive Defense between being online and offline.

A member of Wilders had noticed this and contacted their support. Apparently this is not a bug, they said it is by design. Design flaw, in my opinion. So, between the two, I'm with Baidu at the moment, they who started out with serious update problems, but now seem to be fixing them.

As some of us had stated in wilders....You still have the sandbox set to sandbox any thing that is suspicious and the program is offline. Along with Bitdefender's sig, I think you'd be fine. Not to mention that I wouldn't be running this solo anyway. Most folks have an AE or Firewall/HIPS running along with it. As long as you know there is a design flaw and have a layered setup, I'm not really seeing a problem.

It will block unknown stuff from USB, but there are many other ways to get infected. The point is that Qihu's Proactive Defense isn't too bad, except for this one silly detail.

"Most folks," what most folks? Most folks here or at Wilders? You must be joking. Most people who visit these forums know how to avoid getting infected even with no antivirus protection. I'm worried about the more common user, or using your expression, most folk.

You know which gets my vote now? Both. Literally both, together. I'm using them, and Baidu's claim of being Perfect Compatible [sic] is true. In fact I'm using a Chinese trio of real-time protection with moderate performance impact — mostly from Qihu: Kingsoft + Baidu + Qihu. Mind that all engines are on — Bitdefender, Avira, QVM II, etc (with proactive defense off). That's 4 Kingsoft engines, 2 (or 3 if you count cloud) from Baidu and 3 from Qihu, totaling 10 real-time engines that indeed complement each other — I've never seen anything more effective, when one fails the other catches the malware. And when all three catch the same thing, they don't lock each other, you can click "Remove" in all of them and they happily say malware removed. Of course even this Chinese behemoth isn't infallible, so naturally this is all backed by Comodo Internet Security with AV off (or Comodo Firewall).

So there you have it, I have found, as you can see, that Baidu and Qihu can coexist and complement each other's detection rate very well.

No, I wouldn't be using this combo if it slowed down the computer. But most of the weight comes from Qihu, Baidu and Kingsoft being very light. Again, this is a full setting with all engines on, so if it affects performance too much you can disable some engines and/or use the fastest real-time setting (scan only when opening) instead of medium.

Interesting Set-up! Could you show your setting in a spoilers? So, that I can see exactly how you are setting this up? And/or do a video?
And what is the Ram Usage?

I will play with tomorrow evening using 360 Internet Security, Trojan Hunter,Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and
Hitman Pro. Maybe, I will add Baidu Anti-virus. I was thinking doing away with 360 and adding Trustport. But
after seeing your set up. I may chance my mind!
