In privacy-focused, anti-establishment corners of the internet, going open source can earn you a certain amount of street cred. It signals that you not only have nothing to hide, but also welcome the rest of the world to help make your project better. For Ghostery though, the company that makes Edward Snowden’s recomended ad-blocker, publishing all its code on GitHub Thursday also means clearing up some confusion about its past.

Now, comparing Ghostery and Privacy Badger both of which open source.

Ghostery has definite advantages over PB like

1) uses AI and blocklist whilst PB uses algorithms for blocking
2) it's easier to use to start with ie either deny all/allow all
3) better GUI display

Note:- If you block ALL cookies (with exceptions) you can don't use PB

:)

Anti-tracking extension Ghostery Heard Cliqz.
Cliqz, a company majority owned by the Burda publishing house
Who is not there comes to think?
Yes, now they are open source with 2 different parts to their business model so whatever they are doing behind the back of users will come to light and hurt their reputation. I don't think they want that to happen now

I have a different view,
Burda .. Springer verlag and other publishing houses
are interested in the data of the users.

With more knowledge on how to block certain advertisements
You can also build advertisements that blockages
to stop.

  • Everybody his opinion !
It's about trust, Ghostery gambled away.
  • It's about trust,
Burda (Cliqz-Ghostery) .. Springer verlag and other publishers
are interested in the data of the users.
  • Why should a big publishing house
the privacy of people on the Internet want to protect
if they do not have an advantage ..
    think about it

Privacy-by-Design is intended to protect the privacy of users. The Cliqz privacy policy contains a lot of rambling about privacy, but also the following:
CLIQZ sends your keystrokes to our servers so that you can suggest sites as you type in the browser line (address bar, URL line). This keystroke data is not saved.
  • In addition, CLIQZ collects and stores on its servers which website suggestions users select in the CLIQZ for Firefox drop-down menu and the type of suggestions (based on CLIQZ's Firefox history, Firefox bookmarks or search technology). In addition, CLIQZ records and stores the respective search terms or address entries.
  • Alternatives to Ghostery
  • uBlock Origin
  • NoScript
  • Brave browser

The thing about privacy is that all companies collect some data. For me the real question is how much of your data you want to give so you can use something useful for free
Brave is a very good solution and I wish more people will be involved so the browser will be updated more frequently
