Yandex Browser
An intuitive web browser that allows users to speed up the loading of web pages, thanks to its turbo mode, translate pages into different languages, block or allow cookies, as well as customize its layout
Written by Ana Marculescu on September 14th, 2013
Editor's review, description, & Yandex download @Softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Browsers/Yandex-Browser.shtml
***
So, beginning yesterday & into today, I have happily enjoyed maneuvering the internet's highways & byways with Yandex Browser. For all those whom appreciate and embrace Google's Chrome Browser, Yandex is a straight forward Chrome-like alternative using the very same semi-open sourced webkit engine as browsers like Comodo Dragon & Midori. In fact, both were former browsers I've used on our Windows XP system. Beginning with it's speed, Yandex has performed every bit as well, in my experience, as Chrome has done. This aging & quirky desktop has Firefox & of course, Internet Explorer browsers. Yandex performs satisfyingly well in this pack, & although Firefox may feel quicker, all the other browsers (except Comodo Dragon) have noticeably less performance appeal than this newer offering from Russia. Among the features I liked were that a handful of my core security extensions such as W.O.T. (Web of trust) & Lastpass came already installed & ready to activate simply by check-marking their respective box. Also, "No Advertisements" (Ad Guard) & a Flash Banner Blocker that works to block banners from slowing your system allowing your own music or videos to play. There are some other useful extensions to which I added "ScriptBlocker" & "Disconnect".:) That's all for now. I'll put forth the question "whom else has used Yandex, & what did you think of this browser? Thanks in advance!:D

Yandex Browser on the WebKit engine and shell Chromium - quick and easy web browser from the "cloud" services. Security is provided by checking references using Safe Browsing system and downloaded files "Kaspersky Lab"
I use it for several months, impressions are very good, I want to note that it uses the latest version of Chrome Engine

So what things go into this thread?
Fantasy, I think moose created an openo_O post with multiple choices, so we're encouraged to jump from point A (topic) to another loosely:confused: (or not);) related (subject) onto point B or point C as some very interesting threads can often times do.:)

Petrovic, thank you for details I hadn't known of until now! Reading '..the "cloud" services.' plus 'Security..provided by checking references using Safe Browsing system and downloaded files "Kaspersky Lab".', is amazing!:) Are these, in any way, similar to Maxthon Cloud in making Yandex safer than other children (browsers) of Chromium; and current security updates? Besides the 'shell' & 'engine', you've delved into the heart of Yandex, and made it more appealing!:D

Morrow, yours is very likely the most comprehensive listing of 18 extensions plus 2 Apps I've ever :eek:seen before, & they're organized!:)
the sum total of security extensions I've added to Yandex comes to a whopping (4).:p They are Disconnect, ScriptBlock, Https Everywhere (Beta), & LastPass. Out of the 5 extensions (pre-installed), I'm using WOT & Adguard Adblocker, & would like to try Lightshot & Turn off the Lights! Have you used Adguard and if so, what do you think of adguard when compared with Adblock? Thanks!:D

Cats-4_Owners-2...LoL thanks but the organized list is made with the extension "Share Extensions". It can be useful for posting in threads like these. :)

And yeah i did try Adguard Adblocker out, and it was very light and it seemed to do the job as good as Adblock. There where only two things i did not like. The first one was that when i saw something i wanted to block and i hat done so...i hat to reload the page after every piece i wanted to block. The second thing was that after a while Adguard Adblocker would keep deactivating certain parts of the protection it gave before...and it kept doing so no matter how often i tried to set those parts of the extension back on.

Maybe it was just something that happened for some reason in my Google Chrome back then. But i guess it could also mean that Adguard Adblocker on the Chrome webstore only works fully for a short time and then continues with less functionality? I am not sure on that though...but it did feel like it.

Morro, (..I am lol too):p as these Chromium webkit based browsers are a moody bunch of coconuts in the guise of software!
Your description of lessened functionality has been the main reason I've jumped from one browser to another so many times!;) If only we could trade out cars as easily. ..or maybe it's a good thing we can't. Your Adblock mystery may have been an interaction between your arsenal of 18 + 2!:D I'd learned, quite some time ago how any browser tweaking of extensions I did using Sandboxie would become immediately "Un-done" upon :eek:deleting the Sandbox.;)

Still hoping to graduate the University of MT Newbies with enlightened experience

Yeah an incompatibility can definitely be a cause of what i experienced with adguard. Oh well who knows what the future holds, i might try it again ( or maybe not :) ) and then try to find out if one or several extensions in my list cause it to happen.
