Avast Free Antivirus 2016 detected zero false positives in the latest Real-World Protection Test by AV-Comparatives.

The results of the July 2016 Whole Product Dynamic Real-World Protection Test from AV-Comparatives are in, and we're excited to spread the word.

In describing its Real-World Protection Test, AV-Comparatives states the following on its website:

“Our Real-World Protection Test is currently the most comprehensive and complex test available, using a large number of test cases. This year, we are running this test under Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP1 with up-to-date third-party software (such as Adobe Flash, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Java, etc.).“

AV-Comparatives‘ fact sheet highlights the fact that Avast Free Antivirus 2016 had zero false positives in a series of tests carried out by the testing firm.

“The results [of the Real-World Protection Test] are based on the test set of 355 live test cases (malicious URLs found in the field), consisting of working exploits (i.e. drive-by downloads) and URLs pointing directly to malware. Thus exactly the same infection vectors are used as a typical user would experience in everyday life. The test-cases used cover a wide range of current malicious sites and provide insights into the protection given by the various products (using all their protection features) while surfing the web.“

With zero false positives, users can rest easy knowing that the detections picked up by Avast Free Antivirus are genuine.

For additional information about AV-Comparatives' latest Real-World Protection Test, have a look through the chart on the firm's website.

Go Avast! I've put my faith in Avast since version 7.0. Never has failed me.

Now, what did every other antivirus score? And, how is Avast's protection compared to other solutions. This is a flawed post and a mere advertisement for Avast that is as biased as it can possibly be.

This thread opener had said nothing nasty about any of the other products though. Based on the results it did not score the best but for a Free AV it is something to be happy about. It also is just their opinion I have had no quarrel with any other AV companies but very happy using Avast since around the 2003 ish area. :) Keep in mind EVERY company compares themselves and shows result that make you want the product.

Not sure what you mean by a "flawed post and a mere advertisement for Avast that is as biased as it can possibly be"
The OP is just linking the Avast blog where Avast was commenting on Avast's score in the AV comparatives July 2016 Real-world protection test.
The OP is obviously an Avast user for many years and is just happy for the score Avast received in the test.In the blog there is a link to the test results which show exactly how Avast's protection scored against other vendors.

I provided the screenshot above of the test results which was linked in the Avast blog in which the OP linked in his original thread.
This thread is hardly an advertisement for Avast and any doubts about the results should be directed towards AV comparatives and not the OP.

Yes, I meant the blog post. If I was referring to the OP himself, I would've referenced him. In addition, there's nothing TO refute in his comment; he simply said that Avast has never let him down. I never directly challenged that statement.

Although, I probably should've said "blog post".

Personally I take AV Comparatives results with a grain of salt.
It is an Avast blog so I imagine they have a right to toot their own horn.Other vendors do the same thing.
Avast does and has for a very long time provided a quality free AV program so as far as I am concerned they can advertise all they want.
Skepticism about the results,at least to me,is more suspect than Avast blogging about their 0 FP score in the test.
