Optimization and cleaning are tricky.
During the past few years,I've tried many so called "optimization and cleaning" software.
Right now I'm using DiskMax for cleaning. It is good.

http://www.koshyjohn.com/software/diskmax/

As for dfragmentation,I use MyDefrag. Developers haven't made update since 2010,but I find it very good tool.It has unique defrag approach.

As for registry,I use Free Window Registry Repair.Twice repaired my pc WSOD ( same as BSOD )!! I like it.

As for services optimization,I use Black Viper config.Don't be mislead by his nickname. This guy knows what he is talking about.

Glary was my first optimization software.I am very fond of Glary. Still use their FilePuma for software update.

http://www.filepuma.com/

However,I relatively often open regedit and check what happened there. Trojans, pup-s and other pests find ways to sneak in.
Basically,learning never ends.
Stay here and read what others are doing. This is good place to be.

Also on a side note, through my many years of helping on forums, I have seen avg PC tune up trash a great number of computers.

I had used AVG PC TuneUp for quite a long time (about 2 years) & never has any problems with it. I guess different people get a different result while using this product since so many people complain about it.Removed it about 4 months ago because I couldn't stop the application from starting at system startup. I'm using Wise Care 365 at the moment & I love it :)

Disable all startups with ccleaner, except antivirus.
Disable scheduled task with autoruns, none are really needed unless related to antivirus.
Run toolwhiz smart defrag.
Never use any registry cleaner, not gonna help anyway.
Regular scans with jrt and adware cleaner
Run a chkdsk /r once a week, while you sleep.
Remove phantom usb drivers with this tool. http://www.uwe-sieber.de/files/drivecleanup.zip
Disable windows defender, also see this for un-needed services. http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/
Also download and run system ninja and wipe by privacy root.
Run this nice little program http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/simple_system_tweaker.html
Also for internet disable ipv6 and remove your tunnel adapters, you can see here. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852
Also use a dns server that it correct for your area. https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm
If you have switched antivirus then always run the removal tool for previous http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

There is your tuneup, you do it all manually, it will be better than any of those so called optimize tools. A bit of work to do but anyone who does the above will notice a huge diff.

That is not tuneup. Every users has its needs (work/home) and every one needs to tune up its own operating system. People should try to learn about Windows based systems so they can comprehend it's monstrous possibilities.
Service optimizations should be manipulated only by advanced users (again) according to their needs, and not by someones recommendations.

For power users i recommend Process Lasso, but than again System Mechanic and some similar programs can do that even better than average power user.

Best way to tune your system is by learning, than by your own testing. And never (NEVER) forget to make backup (image) before you go deeper into this stuff :).

In most cases problems with optimization software that people often engage is because of registry cleaners. And the reason behind it is that people tend to change their registry cleaners a lot. If someone uses one of them stick with it (CCleaner), and do not change it.

P.S. I like that clip from Lebowski :)

Actually basic needs for optimization are first a cleaner to clean those temp files regularly, safe registry cleaner for invalid entries, and defragmentation to arrange those files for faster reading and writing access.

Its optional for disabling the services and startup applications caused if you have a plenty of RAM then you don't need this.

No need for other features beside on 3 basic functions caused it will show none minimal result or slight difference.

What do you think about Kerish Doctor 2015?

I like Kerish Doctor 2015 a lot. Thank you for the recommendation. Nice windows startup tool, better knowledge base than any other optimizing tool. Will keep it for a while.

AVG PC Tuneup is safe to use, as it's registry cleaner has no issues with false positives, whereas Auslogics does have very minor issues with false positives.

I would stay well away from any paid software from Auslogics as they a most definitely not a trustworthy company. For example, they also release some utilities under the brand name TweakBit, and they have their own scam review sites which they use to promote software from TweakBit, while appearing to be independent review sites.

As has been said already, Kerish Doctor is a much better option than AVG or Auslogics as it can actually fix specific problems.

I'd be very careful when using this as it wants to delete to many empty keys. Occasionally these registry keys with no value will be needed.
