I've been having this problem for maybe a year. I'm using Avira free antivirus and scanned rigorously but still not fixed. It's very annoying to be kicked out on an online game because the browser opens by itself and minimize the game. Please help, I'm at my wit's end. Thank you in advance.

EDIT: The timeframe between occurrence is not definite. Or maybe it is? I don't know for sure.

Hello,

Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
  • Install the progam.
  • Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Start Scan.
  • If threats are detected, click the Quarantine Selected button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
  • Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the Reports tab.
  • Double-click the Scan Log.
  • At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.
Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

Thank you for fast response, attached to this mail is the report required.

If it makes any difference, Avira gave me a notification about blocking an attempt of registry edit when processing quarantine in Malwarebytes.

Also, should I delete the quarantined files? Thank you again.

You can disable Avira while scanning with MalwareBytes or deleting quarantine.

Scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please re-run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool to give me a fresh look at your system.
  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Make sure that Addition.txt option is checked.

  • Press Scan button and wait.
  • The tool will produce two logfiles on your desktop: FRST.txt and Addition.txt.
Please attach report into your next reply.

You must run FRST from Administrator account.

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

I hope so, but I won't find out until when (if) the web page opens up by itself again. I will report again in 24 hours. Any tips for future safety precautions? Thank you so much TwinHeadedEagle.

I got reports from Malwarebytes. It appears the software has stopped a web page from opening but doesn't this mean the problem is not solved? How do I prevent/remove this malware?

Also, when the premium of Malwarebytes expires, will the web page occur again? Thank you.

I use Chrome as my default browser. I think the malware will open the page with my default browser. For example, if leave my laptop on overnight (no software active, just showing the desktop), when I woke up I would see Chrome showing a web page. It opens by itself.

For now, I have blocked outbound rule ports seen in these reports. Will that be enough?

I don't think so. I'm not seeing anything being blocked again by Malwarebytes. Is this enough? When Malwarebytes expires, will the web page show up again? I really want to but Malwarebytes but my credit card is not yet approved by my bank.
