Activision has officially announced the next game in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 2. It’s the successor to the massively popular Black Ops, originally released in November 2010 and quickly becoming the fastest selling game in US history. It’s also the best selling game of all time in the US, UK, and Europe with 25 million sales. As for Black Ops 2, it’s pegged for a November 13th release, just in time for the holiday season.

It’ll be going up against Halo 4, also due to be released on November 6th, but we’re sure than both franchises will collect massive sales regardless of competition. Black Ops 2 will be developed by Treyarch, and this time be set in the future. The year will be 2025, with the plot focusing on the growing tension between the US and China. The two countries are competing for precious resources in order to develop more advanced technology.

The cat was let out of the bag a little earlier than expected yesterday when the launch trailer leaked out onto the internet, but it ran as expected during the NBA game last night for all the world to see. The Activision website describes the game, saying: “Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare

With 7 Call Of Duty games based in the WWI / WWII era and 3 based in the Modern Age, It's about time we looked to the Future age of warfare.

I shall await for a multiplayer preview trailer as that is the main reason I'll play any Call Of Duty.

Mental imaging many of the robotic drone like vehicles shown in the trailer being used as killstreaks in multiplayer...I'm not sure what to think but hope they're not over powered and annoying such as the RC-XD in Black Ops.

This is Treyarch we're speaking of so I have my hopes up that they do things right.

I'm looking forward to this too. Mates I know have been saying that there is going to be a new Black Ops that was coming out, and since it's going to be coming out in November it's a good time to come out.

I haven't played Black Ops, getting it though. However, Activision failed with the PC edition of MW3, so I'm MW2 with a dedi servers mod. I seriously hope this game will revive PC Gaming.

Black Ops is junk on PS3. Honestly it would have been better if they hadn't bothered, if Black Ops 2 isn't an improvement, I won't be getting this.

There are other things I would like to know, like what game engine, improvement in graphics etc?

Chances are it's using the same old engine with just a few minor adjustments, Graphics will be no different to Black Ops in my opinion, Much like MW3 recycled the MW2 engine.

Probably right. Will have to get one of my mates to buy it and then try it with him and if it's good then get it myself :p
