Notes by Staff Team
  1. This setup configuration does not have a backup plan. We strongly recommend to add a backup solution for your data so that you can restore it in the case of an emergency.
Backing up allows the recovery of data that has been lost due of a malware attack (eg. ransomware) or a hard disk crash. In such events you might lose family photos, your music collection, documents, or financial data. Backups are fast and simple to perform so it should be done on a regular basis.

@camo7782:
  • As for "Disk Imaging Backup", You may add Macrium Reflect Free or AOEMI Backupper, both are free and reliably.
  • Consider also to run manual backups of important data to external devices, and/or in cloud services.
  • As for "Virus and Malware Removal Tools", You may add: ZAM Free, MalWareBytes Free, EmsiSoft Emergengy Kit, Norton Power Eraser, and HitManPro Free. Delete Bit Defender IS from this field, sicne it is already Your real-time solution.
  • As for "Web Privacy", You may add uBlock Origin or AdGuard AdBlocker extension to Your browsers, also a VPN service.
  • A PassWord Manager would be welcome also.
Please kindly reflect Your changes editing Your config, and announcing them here, hanks for sharing :giggle:

BD Free did not work for me so I'm interested in hearing feedback from any BD user. Let us know how it goes. (y) Forget CFW and just use included FW module so you get a good overall picture of the suite. You might follow some of the other suggestions already made.

The most significant thing in your protection for me would be a backup program and add uBlock Origin or AdGuard.
For backup, I am using Macriun Reflect. and some programs to scan .
Thanks for sharing:giggle:

already have backup solution flow on work PC

Macrium Reflect
it is in my shopping list already, but I was considering a Synology to store the system image

Hi just get rid of BD IS altogether ,another hogger.
is it bad?

BD is heavy for your system
you never had GData I guess :)

Is that a Custom build or pre-built from shop?
assembled by the shop taking pieces one by one

Hi Camo7782, BD is a big resource hogger ,you will see noticeable slowdowns on your pc with only 4gig ram and no ssd, I have 8gig ram and a ssd and just hated BD, 300 megs ram was the average almost doing nothing on pc.You could try Norton av or Kaspersky cloud (still a touch heavier than Norton av) ,run Norton with simplewall both together take up max 30-60 megs ram doing simple tasks.

Dear Posters, if @camo7782 is satisfied with the performance of Bitdefender on his system, then by all means he should keep on using it. He is familiar with other AV programs, and has chosen Bitdefender for a reason...

My advice:
- If you like Bitdefender, keep it on your system
- I would highly recommend a backup solution such as Ease Todo Backup, Macrium Reflect or Aomei Backupper, all of which are free
- Install Emsisoft Browser Security & uBlock Origin or Nano Adblocker as extensions at the very least

Hope you like my advice and thanks for sharing.

As you currently use Emsisoft in real-time, you don't need to repeat under Virus and Malware Removal Tools, as we already know this is your primary AV protection.

And if you use Comodo Firewall w/ CS settings, please list it under Real-time Web & Malware Protection, with the proper names. As with NVT OSArmor.

System Utilities are generally tools/software you use on-demand or for certain tasks (ie. Uninstallers, Disk defrags, Search tools etc).
