Hello, Everyone,

Topic: BitDefender Total Security 2012 on X64 Bits O.S.

I have a Windows Ultimate X64 Bits O.S. and I can not get BitDefender Total Security 2012
to install.
Would Norton DNS block BitDefender Total Security 2012 from installing? Any suggestions?
Tried to install on 2 different computer that are X64 O.S. and BitDefender Total Security 2012
will not install?

Many many thanks,

Moose

Norton DNS is just a secure dns ..so it will just block malicious domains from loading in your browser....

What exactly happens?Does the installation process start or ?
From where did you download the installer? It's a web or standard installer?
What security products do you have running in real time? What security products did you previously had installed?

Those Bitdefender Total Security have a popup of what error has and make the installation abort?

Make sure the previously used security software was fully removed even the leftovers.

There are some errors when Bitdefender installation fails. Link (The product that applies was all version of 2009 so probably the error can still show on 2012)

Ok...This is a very strange problem since it's happening on two different PC's.I for one can't imagine that Bitdefender released a build that doesn't work on 64bits.
Do you have an Administrator account right?Did you previously had Bitdefender installed?
Installation Issues usually occurs either when you do not have sufficient privileges on the Windows user you are currently using or the previous BitDefender product was not removed completely.
Please make sure your current user has Administrative privileges.
Also, to make sure you removed previous BitDefender related files, you can use the bellow uninstall tool.
Go to http://www.bitdefender.com/files/KnowledgeBase/file/BitDefender_Uninstall_Tool.exe and choose "Save to disk" when the window with the BitDefender file appears, then run it. A reboot may be necessary to complete the uninstall process.

From: Moose

I finally got in touch with Live Chat for BitDefender Internet Security 2012!
But, I would feel unsafe on the internet with-out Malwarebtyes and Hitman Pro
as Secondary Scanners install on my Laptops... What is your opinion?
I will leave a copy of the Live Chat with the Tech.....

Presently, I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 install with-out any
Headaches?

Eduard: First I would recommend uninstalling Malwarebytes as well as any other security solutions that you might have.
Michaell Moose: What about my
Michaell Moose: Browser Add-Ons: Adblock Plus, Ghostery, Last Pass, and WOT!
Virtualization/Rollback: Shadow Defender
Apps Hardening: EMET 2.1,

Michaell Moose: uninstall the above from the browser also,????
Eduard: You should take off Shadow Defender.
Eduard: The browser add-ons are ok.
Michaell Moose: So Shadow Defender and Malwarebtyes, uninstall?
Eduard: Yes.
Michaell Moose: What about Hitman Pro?
Eduard: Uninstall that also please.
Michaell Moose: Can you look back to over to make sure!

Michaell Moose: Uninstalling everything make me feel unsafe!
Michaell Moose: What can I use as a antispyware?
Eduard: You should uninstall any other security solution besides Bitdefender for it to run well.
Eduard: Bitdefender will be sufficient protection.
Michaell Moose: Browser Add-Ons: Adblock Plus, Ghostery, Last Pass, and WOT! Are Okay!
Michaell Moose: The browser add on are okay?
Eduard: BitDefender Internet security has the Antiphishing and Search Advisor features.
Michaell Moose: What browser's can I use?
Michaell Moose: I use SRWare Iron and Opera Next!
Eduard: You can use any.
Michaell Moose: Okay, I will try! I see what happen? Any other suggestions?
Eduard: The browser add-ons might interfere with Search Advisor.
Michaell Moose: Okay!
Eduard: You can leave those on for now and if the Search Advisor doesn't work you can uninstall them.
Michaell Moose: Okay!
Michaell Moose: Thank you! For your time this evening! Good Night!

If you install complete for bitdefender, you can try to install the on demand scanner too. Surely it will not hurt for that.

Hello, jamesc7 & umbrapolaris!

I will try sometime the middle of the week to re-install BitDefender Internet Security 2012.
I still feel very uncomfortable with just having with-out Hitman Pro and Malwarebtyes.

Downside of their 2012 was prompting to remove MBAM (if it was install already) in order to continue the installation.

Additionally, I could not Microsoft Office 2010 to work by default. I had to add exceptions to all of the executable files. I may just stay away from BitDefender Internet Security 2012, unitil, they/BitDefender fix this issue.

sometimes paid products are worse than free ones. i abandonned BD after testing the trial, few years ago.
