Comodo Cloud Antivirus on Windows 11

2023-09-12_041250.png

Just to test, I installed the last stable version of Comodo Cloud Antivirus (CCAV) on my Windows 11 production system. The installation went smoothly, and all features seemed effective. However, the first system restart took some time.

I tested CCAV using harmless samples from amtso.org and grc.com.
1. CCAV detected the samples I downloaded (potentiallyunwanted.exe and cloudcar.exe).
2. AutoSandbox alerted for unrecognized apps or files (Hasleo Backup Suite and leaktest.exe).
3. CCAV blocked outbound connections from leaktest.exe when I enabled “Block outgoing connections from sandboxed applications” in Sandbox Settings.
4. CCAV displayed an alert for unrecognized apps or files when I enabled “Ask for untrusted applications” in Sandbox Settings.
5. CCAV completed a quick scan with no issues.

I installed CCAV yesterday. It’s running well. Let’s see.

CCAV support stopped some time ago. I was never really fond it myself and CIS only used a handful more MBs of ram. Plus CCAV was more an on-access product rather than live monitoring. Anyway, was an interesting product at the time and a good one but not been supported for some time.

I just went to the website, and saw what you posted...but, but, rhythm made it look so good. I was liking it :) :) So it will still offer the cloud protection, just not the console, UI updates?
They have shown that it's not available anymore. Clicking the download button provides CIS. I got it from Softpedia. I’m not sure if the cloud protection works. However, the AV detected the harmless samples. CCAV didn’t alert for HiBit Uninstaller, which is on the Comodo Cloud Whitelist. The logs showed it rated HiBit as a trusted application.

Comodo Cloud had the behavioral containment and script monitor of CFW. Good thing about CCA was that when you stripped the internal signature allow whitelist, it was a WDAC ahead of its time.

I combined it with Spyshelter FW free (because SS HIPS did not suffer from amnesia like CFW HIPS).

I switched from using CF to CCAV. I used CCAV mainly because of the "Ask for untrusted applications" feature. This feature is not yet available in CF, even in the new beta version.

CCAV had core protection features from CF and additional features with a simple interface. They stripped features from CCAV that most CF users don't use, like HIPS and advanced options. CCAV has features that CF doesn't, like alerts for autosandbox and moving safe files outside the sandbox as per the settings.

CCAV functioned properly on my Windows 11 production system. However, I uninstalled it because it's a discontinued product.

CCAV performed really well. I considered asking @Shadowra for a test, but I already have a request with him. I didn't want to bother him with a product that was no longer available.
