Confirmed: Windows 10 Creators Update (Redstone 2) to Launch in April

The Windows 10 Creators Update is still in the works at this moment, and there are rumors indicating that Microsoft is aiming for an April release if testing and bug fixing go according to the plan.
And while Microsoft remains completely tight-lipped on its Creators Update timing plans, Dell, which is currently one of the most important partners of the Redmond-based software giant, revealed that launching the new OS update in April is indeed what the firm is aiming for.

Any other details are not yet known, but if Windows 10 Creators Update, internally called Redstone 2, launches in April, there’s a good chance it’ll be labeled version 1704 in order to correspond with Microsoft numbering strategy that aligns versions with release dates.

Previously, it was believed that the Creators Update would launch in March, with some people saying it could be finalized as version 1703, but now it looks like the company pushed the release back for one month and it’s aiming for April to introduce the new OS.

New hardware coming alongside Redstone 2?
What’s also interesting to note is that Microsoft could use the April unveiling to present its latest hardware as well, with some sources pointing out that Redmond could take the wraps off the next-generation Surface Pro and Surface Book models alongside the Windows 10 Creators Update.

The Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 are both expected to see daylight in the first months of this year, and launching them alongside the Creators Update would allow the company to use these devices as pioneers of the new OS update.

With Dell being one of the most important Microsoft partners at this moment, having a Windows 10 update release date from them is just like getting it from the software giant itself, so there’s a good chance that the April target is indeed real.

The Creators Update can already be tested as part of the Windows Insider program, and Microsoft is projected to release a new preview build sometime these days.
