In warrants obtained by FOX6 News, former DCH employee Joshua Seth Howell admits to downloading patient information from the hospital onto his personal laptop on June 16.

We're told this comes on the same day DCH fired him. The hospital has not commented on why Howell was fired.

The warrant says Howell accessed DCH records that contained patient files including, but not limited to names, Social Security numbers, and account numbers.

DCH says Howell got the information through a data clearing house that's used by the entire DCH health system.

"Our employees found after he left our employ that he had in fact attempted to go and enter that site," Sammy Watson, a spokesperson for DCH Health System, said.

Howell told investigators the reason he stole the data was to cause problems for DCH because they gave him a pink slip.

Willie Davis' mother is a patient at DCH-He's a little worried about what happened but doesn't really find it surprising.

"People shouldn't do that...but it's so easily done," Davis said.

No word yet on how many patient files were taken.

"If we find that their information has been compromised or if they are a part of this them certainly we will let them know..and we will do it in a timely fashion," Watson said.
