Dell announced a pair of new premium business laptops under its Latitude brand today, including the Latitude 5491 and the Latitude 5591. Both of them offer Intel's eighth-generation H-series processors, which are hexa-core in the Core i7 flavor, or quad-core if you opt for a Core i5.

The base models will feature Intel UHD Graphics 630, although there is an option for a dedicated GPU. It's an Nvidia GeForce MX130, and although it's not top-of-the-line, it's still better than using integrated graphics only.

The main difference between the 5491 and the 5591 is the screen size, as you can probably tell from the product names. The Latitude 5491 comes with a 14-inch display with either a 1366x768 or a 1920x1080 resolution, the latter of which is also available with touch. The larger 5591 is 15.6 inches, and has the same resolution and touch options.

The Windows 10 PCs offer an optional IR camera for Windows Hello, and with Thunderbolt 3, you have an array of docking options. This allows you to connect to a variety of peripherals, and you can also use it to expand your ports if the three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports aren't enough.

Dell is boasting security in its new Latitude 5000 laptops as well, with features like Dell Client Command Suite, Dell Data Protection, a hardware authentication bundle, and more. For connectivity, they also have the option of including a Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 modem, which offers LTE download speeds of up to 300Mbps.

The new Latitude 5000 laptops will be available on May 17, with the 5491 starting at $899, and the 5591 starting at $999.

1366x768 resolution should not be an option in 2018.. Why are laptop screen resolutions still so horrible when we have 5 inch 2K phone displays.
