Starting July 1, 2020, Norton Online Backup will no longer be available. The following FAQs will help you answer queries that are related to the End-of-Life announcement.
Why is Norton Online Backup being retired?
We strive to provide industry-leading and relevant security to help protect your devices and the information on them. From time to time, we assess our offerings and features to ensure value to our consumers and partners.
Starting on July 1, 2020, Norton Online Backup will no longer be available or supported.
Is there a replacement product for Norton Online Backup?
We have a backup solution available in our Norton 360 offerings. You can backup your data using the PC Cloud Backup feature within Norton 360. Please note that the Norton Cloud Backup features are only available on Windows.
Depending on your region or subscription, you may receive an email with a discount for Norton 360 plans. This is an offer for the Norton Online Backup users who switch to a Norton 360 plan.
We are not able to move the data from Norton Online Backup to Norton 360 due to technological constraints. Hence, you will need to restore your data from Norton Online Backup and then backup the data again using Norton 360 PC Cloud Backup. For more information, see Restore files from Norton Online Backup.
My data is still available locally on my desktop. Do I still need to restore the data from Norton Online Backup?
No. If the data that needs to be backed up is still present locally on your desktop, you can directly setup and backup using Norton 360 PC Cloud Backup.
How does this announcement affect my existing Norton Online Backup subscription?
You can continue to use Norton Online Backup until June 30, 2020. Depending on your region or subscription, you may receive an email with a discount for Norton 360 plans. This is an offer for the Norton Online Backup users who switch to a Norton 360 plan.
