The Epic Games Store has become a major disrupting force in the gaming industry, taking the popular Steam marketplace head on. To that end, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has ambitious goals for the market.

GameSpot has the report this week (via AppleInsider). In an interview with the publication, Sweeney spoke about his goals for the Epic Games Store, which includes support for mobile operating systems. Yes, at some point Epic Games Store customers will be able to have their digital library on them at all times. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when the Epic Games Store will make its iOS and Android debut.
Sweeney sees the availability of the Epic Games Store on mobile platforms as another way to push the digital storefront forward.

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Fortnite developer Epic Games, criticized Apple and Google for having an “absolute monopoly” on app stores in a Friday interview with CNBC. There aren’t many viable options for distributing mobile software outside the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, and Sweeney chides both for taking a 30 percent fee from in-app purchases.

Epic Games launched the Epic Games Store in late 2018 for Windows and Mac computers, and only charges other publishers a 12 percent fee on in-app purchases. The Epic Games Store hasn’t made it to the App Store because of Apple’s strict guidelines against competing software stores.

“They [Apple] are preventing an entire category of businesses and applications from being engulfed in their ecosystem by virtue of excluding competitors from each aspect of their business that they’re protecting,” Sweeney said.

Tim ain't alone thinking and feeling the same. I still doubt it will change much in the long run as it's Apples and Googles own platforms. Would be nice to see some competition, but not sure where that would come from.

He acuses others of what he is trying to do, he already ruined the PC gaming market with exclusive deals, now he wants to shift and control the mobile gaming market.

What next, he wants to launch Epic on PS5 and Series X, cause both Sony and Microsoft are being anti-competitive too?

Epic is a cancer spreading, ruining every market it touches nowadays, the fact is run by Chinese nowadays doesn't make it any better.

We already have choices when it comes to third-party stores on Android at least, so I'm behind Google on this, Epic can go and take a walk.
