The ESET security companies shared a briefing note with which explains that they have located the trojan Android/Clicker within bogus applications that attract some of the most popular downloaded applications from the public, including Dubsmash, Clash of Clans 2, Subway Surfers 2 and 3, Minecraft, Hay 3 Day 2 and various versions of Video Downloader and Downloader Manager.

The fake Dubsmash, for example, was uploaded on Play Store 9 times over the past few weeks, causing tens of thousands of infections. ESET researchers have identified other fake-app 51, each of them with over 100 thousand installations.

These apps once opened don't cause immediate damage and direct (such as the theft of sensitive data or passwords) but direct the user towards occult fraudulent websites with pornographic content, leading to a high level of data traffic with consequent impact on users ' portfolio.

All applications that are loaded by the same developer and Android/Clicker is able to circumvent the security systems of Google. Fake applications, once installed, do not appear in the applications menu and instead displays icons from other apps such as Flappy Birds Family or system applications.

Google, informed by ESET, proceeded to remove from Play Store fake applications containing malware and report potentially harmful ones. To avoid unpleasant incidents of hitting, as usual it is recommended that you read the user reviews, to check the reliability of the original source of the app and install one anti-malware scanner on Android devices.

A complete list of fake-app detected by ESET is available HERE.
