Facebook has been spying on the private messages and data of American users and reporting them to the FBI if they express anti-government or anti-authority sentiments — or question the 2020 election — according to sources within the Department of Justice.

Under the FBI collaboration operation, somebody at Facebook red-flagged these supposedly subversive private messages over the past 19 months and transmitted them in redacted form to the domestic terrorism operational unit at FBI headquarters in Washington, DC, without a subpoena.

As long as free speech, including ambiguous truths and false information, can cause confusion, we cannot deny all of these censorships. I think so. The issue is whether censors handle information fairly and make unbiased judgments. I find it quite difficult.

"Facebook has been spying on the private messages and data of American users"

Facebook monitors "spies" on all user input, they should do more but they will do the minimum legally required as most big businesses do. Media, from every angle these days are selling drama and fear, they do that because it works, even my beloved public radio has sold it's soul to that income stream. @show-Zi couldn't have said it better.

Here in Sweden we (almost) had the exact thing happen to us as what happened to the US, at the evening of the election, "election fraud/steal" was trending on Twitter, but as soon as the Blue Parties (Right-Wing/Conservatives) was catching up and eventually passed the Red Parties (Left-Wing/Socialists) in terms of votes that trend disappeared as fast as it appeared, which is extremely worrysome, seeing how conservatives seemingly live in an fantasy world where they are always right and everyone else is wrong, and if they dont win the election was "rigged".

It is much worse than a mere "censors". Here we are talking about a criminal authoritarian regime. It's different to censoring publicly available information like twitter and another spying on private messages, which may include interpersonal conversations with one's own family and friends. It is a direct violation of human rights and privacy.
I have completely deleted my Facebook account, there is not a worst company in the world than Meta.

Yeah well , I wish my post that was deleted would have been considered instead of deleted. It is a well known fact that FB has been spying on it's users for the U.S. government for years , it just stood out more after the 2020 elections. Fact is there is no such thing as free speech anymore, in real life and certainly not on the internet. Say something that someone else disagrees with you either get canceled or have lies made up about you or or just plain old have your opinion ..... deleted.

They've been spying for years on private chats. Years ago, I tried to post something on my Farcebook page. It was removed. So, one day when I was talking to a buddy in chat, I tried to send him the link. It was removed from the private chat. We've also had posts in chat removed. They just disappear or aren't allowed to be posted. The guys, mostly buddies from my high school days a century or so ago, or Veterans I served with, have quit using Farcebook chats. We text via phone (even me), and I hate cellphones, or phones in general.
