Argus, Thanks for your assistance in tackling this issue.

I removed Microsoft Security Essentials, copied fixlist.txt to my desktop and started FRST64.

It has been running close to 7 hours, the computer has been running so slow, that I wasn't surprised it would take longer than expected but this seems too extreme.

Any suggestions on what to do at this point? Stop and restart?

It finally finished (approx. 11 hours) and I ran the remaining steps. Posted are the logs.

I started the task manager and voila, no fake google chrome processes.

I did note one other piece of information. There are 2 rundll32.exe processes running that do not respond to the 'Open file location' in task manager.

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;

Create registry backup
checkmark.png
Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.
