Much to the chagrin of users, Bethesda announced in September that the company would be shelving its plans for supporting mods on the PS4 due to conflicts with Sony over how they would work. It seems now that the two companies have made up, with Bethesda announcing today that mods will be coming to the PS4 after all.

Both Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition will receive mod support on PS4 soon, a feature that has, so far, been exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox One console. The Skyrim remaster will feature support for mods right off-the-bat when it is released on October 28, while Fallout 4 will follow soon after. Compared to PC and Xbox, however, there is one limitation: mods can only use the assets available in the base game, without the ability to upload external assets.

Moreover, the company is also promising support for Sony's newfangled PS4 Pro for both games, with Skyrim: Special Edition once again receiving full support from launch and the company's apocalyptic RPG expected to follow suit. With the added power of Sony's console, the RPG maverick is also promising native 4K rendering for Skyrim, while Fallout 4 is expected to "take advantage of the PS4 Pro in 4k along with enhanced lighting and graphics features."
