Kaspersky Lab found a fake application of mobile recharge staying in the Play Store, Google's official app store for Android smartphones.

On the air since November 2015, the false application "Mobile Recharge" promises the user double credit amount recharged by the app, when in fact the coup created the app to collect data and clone credit cards.

The Play Store informs that between 1,000 and 5,000 users have downloaded and installed the fake app from the official store

Once installed on the user device, the application will display the screens of the alleged recharge function, informing accept several types of credit card

To perform the "reload", the application states that it is mandatory to inform the number of credit card. Interestingly, the application does check the veracity of the reported number

After entering the data, the mobile phone recharge fake application will send all the collected information (SSN, name, recharge value, the card number, expiration date, CVV) to a site registered in Brazil, which has no connection with telephone operators.

With this data, the scammer can clone the card and use it as you wish.

Several users reported in the application reviews the failure to receive the credits and then have had problems with the card

Fabio Assolini, senior analyst of security Kaspersky Lab in Brazil and responsible for the discovery of fake app, says that Google has been notified of the existence of the malicious application in the store Play Store. Until now, the application is still in the air.

It is not the first
According Assolini is not the first time that scammers publish malicious apps in the Play Store. At the end of 2014 we found the first 2 mobile banking trojans developed in Brazil.

Already in October last year, another fake application recharge was in the shop, called "Recharging Brazil", but that was removed from the air in a short time

Kaspersky alert to Android users who download and use only the official apps of telephone operators time to recharge the phone. Be wary of alleged deals offered by third-party apps, this is a clear sign that it is a scam.

The fake application is detected by Kaspersky Internet Security for Android as HEUR: Trojan-Banker.AndroidOS.Fareac.a.
Sites related to the coup are also blocked.
