Japan’s defense ministry is investigating a hack attack on Japan’s next-generation hypersonic missile system. Hackers leaked details of a new state-of-the-art missile after hacking the webservers of Mitsubishi Electric Corp, the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported on Wednesday.

i thought Japan's military is inactive/limited, why they made missiles?
We don't have an army in Japan. But there are public organizations that have the same equipment as the military. The debate over whether it is different from the military continues even now. Firearms are also produced in Japan.
Why do they even connect these systems to internet? Aren't these systems supposed to run in an intranet with an isolated environment?
According to the article, the branch in China was targeted first, and it reached Japan from vpn.
