As soon as I uninstalled my security software, and re-tried the Creators Update using Windows 10 Update Assistant it worked as smooth as silk.
Well yes, it's highly recommended to disable or completely remove your security software.

why go back?
Some incompatibility problems on my hardware's side, and after a nice morning coffee and cigaret I acknowledge that Windows 10 actually doesn't have anything better to offer what I've already had with Windows 7. Maybe it could, but my current laptop doesn't like Windows 10.
Forgot how stable and simple Windows 7 is...

I'm all in with the Creators Update on all my physical and virtual machines. No issues so far.

It has been working perfectly so far. Slightly better than the anniversary updates
