I think mystartsearch stalked me from PC to Mac, and infested my Google account

Sorry, long post to explain the root of my problem.
I´m not skilled with malware (or computers..), so all help is highly appreciated, thank you. :)

The Mystartsearch search engine /home page suddenly popped up everytime I opened up Google Chrome on my last desktop (a PC), and I was never able to remove it, and I never understood how I had made the mistake to let that infect my PC (I never intentionally downloaded it). I stopped using Google Chrome on that PC (with Google account login), and went over to Firefox. It never popped up on Firefox, and I did run malware removal tools to fix the issue, but it never detected anything on my computer system. As well, I rebooted my desktop, deleting all files, pgrograms etc., but mystartsearch was still there when I used Google Chrome.
I also used the same Google account on my laptop with Google Chrome, but mystartsearch never showed up there. Google Chrome worked fine without being interuppted by mystartsearch there, so I always suspected that the problem with mystartsearch had altered itself onto my C drive or something on my desktop(I´m not a computer expert, so I don´t know).

Yesterday I bought a new Macbook Pro, and everything seemed to work perfectly. I installed Google Chrome and logged in with my usual account, and guess what; mystartsearch popped up the next time I opened Google Chrome, which was right after installing! I think mystartsearch somehow attached itself to my Google account, and now I´m scared to login on my usual Google account. I deleted my web browsing history and saved passwords, and made a new gmail account to use for Google Chrome login, and mystartsearch has not showed itself since. I´m afraid that if I try to login on my old Google account, mystartsearch will popup again, and I don´t want to infect my new Mac (I´m convinced it will if I try). I do want my old Google account back though..

So how in the world do I remove mystartsearch from my old Google account? It makes no sense that there is no link between mystartsearch an my old Google account, because how else would mystartsearch show up on my completely new laptop (and after making a new Google account, it´s not there anymore)?
Should I try to fix the problem, or should I just call it a lost case and abandon my old email?

I really hate mystartsearch.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

Thank you very much!
Should I do this on my new Mac, or on my desktop PC? I have had my Mac for less than 24 hours, so I don´t know if staying in Google Chrome with my "malware" account for 30 seconds has done any impact on it, but I´m not the expert here, so I wouldn´t know. What do you think?
