I'm building a gaming pc and I have some questions about the cpu. The Operating Frequency for the 6100 is 3.7GHz but the 6500 is 3.2GHz. Does this mean the 6100 would be better for gaming? Also, the i5 6500 has a Turbo Speed of 3.6GHz. What does this mean? (I'm new with this so I'm sorry if I ask any obvious questions :/)

Depends on game. Most new games no, some old games yes.
Get the i5 for sure if you don't only play ancient games.

What if I were to get a cpu that is capable of being overclocked? If I were to bump it up to say, 4.4GHz, would it kill the cpu in a short time period or will it still last for a few years?

Depends on voltage it will need to go there and not the frequency. Frequency is irrelevant to cpu dying.

3.6GHz is what the 2nd gen i7's had before tweaking.
If your serious about a gaming machine I would run with the i7 4th gen, you can find them at Newegg & Ebay at prices that
are cheaper than a new i5, just advise though,
I run things like the Division, Battlefield, Ect and
can do so all day with not so much as a hiccup,
but I wont run less than a i7

Is there an ideal voltage to not pass? Also, lets say the voltage was set at 1.4v and the pc is on for 8 hours each day and the cpu reaches 70c at most. Would that be bad?

If its reaching 70c with out a heavy gaming load, its time to seriously have it looked at.
you can, but those temps are usually when your under extreme load. thats not healthy.
is it doing that from just being on and normal use ?

Actually, I don't have the cpu. That was an example I used if a cpu were to be overclocked.

I run my PC about 18 hours a day or may be 48 Hours continuously with 2 virtual machines running and playing FIFA where the temperature doesn't exceed 50 Degree Celsius.

It depends mate. Not all cpu are build the same. If you are asking if me personally if i would do 1.4 i would not. I would keep it below 1.35 whatever the frequency i achieve with it is.
Games will not be affected by such small changes in frequency this voltage will give you because most games are gpu bound.

What are the 2 cpu prices if you don't mind me asking?

If thats all you want , go with the i5
an easy way to cheat if you need to is look for some in the 500 to 700 dollar range and look at their specs on Ebay ;) its a good cheat sheet because the specs of those systems is listed, compare the numbers then go shopping :p
