Govt. of India’s Swatch Bharat Mission (Clean India Mission) has now been expanded into the digital world as well, quite literally. In one of the most useful missions ever launched under Digital India and Swatch Bharat, Govt. has launched a specialized hub called Bot Cleaning & Malware Analysis Centre, named as Cyber Swachhta Kendra in India.

You can get free anti-virus and bot removal tools for your desktops, laptops, mobile phones and even USP port.

Download Free Anti-Virus Tools
As of now, there exists 5 major anti-virus and malware removal tools, which can be instantly downloaded by any user in India.

  • The most prominent among them is Free Bot Removal Tool, which would be provided in association with QuickHeal. You can download it here.
  • M-Kavach is the name of the anti-virus tool for mobile phones, which can be downloaded here.
  • USB Pratirodh (USB Protector) is the name of the tool for cleaning storage devices like USBs, external hard-disk and memory cards. You can download the tool here.
  • AppSamvid is a desktop based whitelisting solution, only for Windows OS. You can download it here.
  • Besides, there is a specialised tool for detecting and cleaning malicious HTML & JavaScript files in the browser as well, called Browser JSGuard. You can download it here for Firefox and for Chrome here.
You can have more details about these free tools here.

I saw the title and was really hoping it was a full scale antivirus solution provided by the Indian government. Alas.

USB Pratirodh (USB Protector) - It has autorun protection and malware detection. It uses what to detect malware?
I'd imagine either Quick Heal's signatures or their behaviour blocker. If neither of those, malware detection may just be a generic term alluding to the fact that it blocks malware from auto-running from a flash drive.

I find it funny how they fund security products but still didn't crack down on illegal problems which are more serious than malware infection

So they have time to spend money on security products which we don't even need yet real problems

sorry am I missing something here... -_-

I see the Free Bot Removal Tool (by Quick Heal), but where's the information for "Free Antivirus". Are they providing Tools only?
Quick Heal BOT Removal Tool. Did a scan and found nothing. Well....I have NoBot too
I am guessing it's a similar tool to RUBotted | Link

But if you don't install Quick Heal then what?

Thanks

So RUBotted requires an internet connection for continuously monitoring and action. That's great!

But its website did not mention support for Win 10. Any idea whether Win 10 64-bit is supported? Also, still at beta and looks like pretty old tool

Thanks

  • "It can be run on all Windows-based operating systems."
That's what it says on their website anyway.

Edit: Ignore above. I didn't read your post correctly and thought you were still talking about Quick Heal's bot removal tool. I'd try and run RUBotted on Windows 10 and see if it works if you're interested in trying it.

The ISPs in India are state-owned; it's no different than your ISP giving you free security software--it's good network management and information assurance.

Bots can cripple/kill infrastructure. Moreso when your average speed is only 4Mbps and average max is 27Mbps and 256Kbps (that's "K") is considered "broadband".

I don't think many people want to use a GOVERNMENT-developed (or even sponsored) antivirus.
People who care about security, usually place great value on privacy. And whenever those think of government, backdoors jump to mind! :D
That doesn't apply to India. It's a given for America but things are socialist and people-centric in India not money-centric.

In my post, I didn't specify any government, I was talking about any government-affiliated security programs.

And believe me, many governments overtly and blatantly spy on internet users.

I know it's not on topic, but it has to be corrected anyway- the internet in India is NOT a governmental monopoly in any sense. There are many, many ISP's consisting of both Private and publicly traded companies. Also some aren't even based in India- Vodafone (really nice dividend stock, btw) is India's number 2 ISP and is a British multinational company.

Govt softwares are of no use. Many years ago I had argument with somebody regarding Hindi Office soft, I said that nobody would use it and it happens to be true. Same was the case with Namo AV, it does nothing. Its a really bad thing that the govt is giving a false sense of security to the people.
